As I politely explained to her, long before the thought of dog ownership had even crossed my mind, I read a couple articles that quoted some sexist stuff he had said, and I was totally put off. Retorting back with hoohah about "energy" and "pack leadership" did not address my issues with him.
It probably wasn't that bad, I was just cranky. And I didn't want to apologize for having a different opinion.
Shouldn't have to, either (apologize for having a different opinion). I have that bad habit, too - apologizing when someone doesn't like my opinion cuz it contrasts with theirs, as apologizing is easier as it smooths things out and lets harmony resurface...but it's not doing me any favours if I always 'give in', so to speak. We (people) have to learn to interact with others who have differing opinions - it's part of being social.
Kinda off topic: I wonder, now that you mention gender in a way, if dogs listen better to males. I have no idea if gender of the human they interact with most affects anything. The comment "pack leadership" made me think of it, as we always hear of "alpha males".
