I understand there's a fair amount of scuttlebutt running around based on a two word phrase (as quoted in the subject) that I used in reference to cissie_king's most recent noscans_daily post, the final one before her banning. Does it not tell you anything when EVERYONE who has seen your words "in context" is even MORE offended by them now?

I couldn't believe that you were willing to say shit like that to me in a PM, and I kicked myself for deleting it afterwards, because I also couldn't believe that you'd ever admit to saying shit like that in public.

And on a related note, it says something that even people who flat-out DON'T LIKE ME have, after reading your stated reasons for banning me, contacted me to let me know that my ban is bullshit.

OK, standard disclaimers about how I'm just zis guy, you know, and not so much part of your fandoms, and I know how you hate to have RL collide with your online identity and so I will be circumspect, etc., etc....

...but I have to say, after reading through the relevant (publicly posted) materiel, that the idea of you as the Oppressive Tool of the (White) Man, as some of the less temperate comments have you, is hilarious. Or it would be, if the accusations didn't indicate that RaceFail is on the edge of devolving into full-on Mutual McCarthyism. May this cup pass from us.

Having moderated online communities before, I have to say that I like the philosophy you outline in this post, and I wouldn't be too worried, because most people are sympathetic to the idea that mods should err on the side of having a light touch. That said, any day where this amount of crap falls on you is a bad day, so: *HUG*. Hope things calm down for you.

Box, dude. That's not cool.

Take a look at that community's rules:

"Harassment + Other. This is been an issue in the past so here is a clear rule. Taking it to personal journals = banned."

You're essentially taking an argument in an unrelated community and dragging it over there, AND taking arguments on people's personal journals over there. If you'd done it from there to here, you'd have been banned there.
