Somehow, it all works out okay

Maybe I'm blessed or something. The only shift I have to fill is for a jazz show, which usually ends up working out all right. Of course, I've yet to actually hear from everyone, nor have I called any of the new DJs. But at the moment, everything is gravy ( Read more... )

If your just now reading this it may be too late to help you make up your mind. But a certain local band is playing an unannounced reunion set of sorts at the Record Bar show tonight. Two of the members are in the Dead Girls and the other is in town from California for the holiday's. I'm sure you can do the math and figure out who I'm referring to. Sometimes I wish I didn't know so many damn people so I wouldn't get wind of this shit before it actually took place.

that would be our friend Randy's birthday show Nick was talking about. he invited us a while back and we'd "done the math" and figured out what might happen and had been looking forward to it ever since. I didn't realize how fast word would spread, though. Randy said he didn't know half the people there! Nick got stuck at the station because he couldn't get anyone to sign up for a shift after the game. I went for the both of us and it was great! Randy looked the happiest I've seen him. it's a hell of a way to turn 40!

It was suppose to be a low key and unannounced short 4 or 5 song set during The Dead Girls part of the show. That was until a very very close friend of the band posted something about it on Facebook and thus the word spread like crazy really fast. I found out about it 2 weeks ago from another person in KC who is real close to that whole group. Cameron also told me Monday night that the small number of songs became a full set once they started jamming together again and realized how much they missed playing with each other. I'm willing to bet that a real UFB reunion show will happen by mid 2009 tops because there is some really good money to be made off of it.
