Oh /lovely/! The dialogue was delish, I could definitely hear the differing accents just in word choice and syntax. And the way Venetia is so entirely non-plussed by it, I love her. *g*

Well, it wouldn't be Les liaisons dangereuses without a sweet and lovely innocent writing a gushing letter about how nice the Marquise is, would it? ;-)

I love Venetia too, and I am sure her frankness and strength of character will protect her from whatever the Marquise's wiles turn out to be this time.
