He'd gone without sleep before but it'd been awhile and coming back from a cold climate to a fairly warm one, losing a day and having to go right to class had exhausted Gavin by the time he staggered back to his room

Inara padded to the door, barefoot and very casually dressed in a pair of jeans and Gavin's shirt du jour. She pulled the key out of her pocket, then realized the door was open. Which hopefully meant...

"Gavin?" She poked her head in eagerly.

Gavin thought he heard something but there was a dream and fuzziness in his head still and possibly it was still a dream.

He shifted a little on the bed but didn't wake up quite yet.

Not having heard an answer, Inara walked into the room and closed the door gently behind her. She smiled when she spotted Gavin on the bed, and walked to the end of it to start removing his shoes. No one should sleep with their shoes on.

There might also have been surreptitious checking for injuries.

"Are you stealing my shoes?" Gavin asked, just barely awake and peeking out at her from barely opened eyes.
