I might be late on this, but I just heard that Josh Homme of Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age fame has a new project with Dave Grohl on drums and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on bass. It's called Them Crooked Vultures and I for one am very intrigued ( Read more... )

That sounds interesting. I've heard of David Grohl before, although I'm not sure from where.

Seems more people are giving superbands a shot these days.

Dave Grohl was Nirvan's drummer and is now Foo Fighters' founding member and guitarist/frontman.

You're right, there are more supergroups these days, but they're still interesting.

I believe Dave Grohl was also in Queens of the Stone Age, correct?

Grohl just jumped on to play drums for the recording of Songs For The Deaf and part of that tour, and then went back to his own projects. He did the same for classic industrial band Killing Joke and probably some others -- I know it was rumored he was going to play drums on a NIN album years ago, but I'm not sure if that happened or not. Anyway, I guess he could be called a temporary member at least.
