That's Strange...

Feb 04, 2011 17:58

I was thrown out of the rap and hip-hop binge I've been on this morning when I woke up from a dream in which there was a really good imaginary indie rock song playing. The song doesn't exist, but it stayed in my head for a couple hours after I got up and I still remember it.

dreams, music

Hmm...you should visit a recording studio and make this hit record! You have me wanting to buy it.

I've had that kind of thing happen before - I'll hear a song in my dreams that doesn't exist. Supposedly a lot of famous musicians had songs they wrote come to them through dreams, so...

Yeah, I've heard that, too. I just wish I knew enough about reading and writing music to do it.

I know the feeling. I can't read music for shit. I can read/write tab okay, but I usually just do everything by ear, and it gets kind of frustrating.

I've had dreams like you where I've heard awesome songs that don't exist in real life. It's too bad I don't know how to read music or play an instrument, I would love to record the music I've heard in my dreams.

Oh! I have to thank you for indirectly introducing me to the Mobb Deep vs. Sigur Ros mashup remix song "Shook" by the musical artist Emancipator. Earlier, I was listening to the cover song "Shook Ones (Part II)" by Everlast (I've been listening to a handful of Everlast songs ever since you mentioned him in an earlier post), and then I randomly discovered the mashup remix of "Shook" and fell in love.

I think "Shook" is one of the most beautiful mashup remixes I've ever heard in my life.

East Coast rap music by Mobb Deep + dreamlike, ethereal Icelandic music by Sigur Ros + elegant violin = sound of MAGIC in the live performance of Emancipator's remix song "Shook" in the video below.

Oh, whoops, I forgot to include that "Shook" mashes together the rap song "Shook Ones (Part II)" by Mobb Deep and the song "untitled #1 (a.k.a. Vaka)" by Sigur Ros. I have a feeling you've already heard these two separate songs before.

That is beautiful! And, actually, I knew "Shook Ones (Part II", but not "Untitled #1". I've known of Sigur Ros forever, but haven't listened to them much at all. Thanks for sharing that and I'm very pleased to have had some part in leading you to it. : D

That happens to me on occasion except it's something I compose and if I'm lucky, I remember it to bring it out to real life. I based an entire song off of ONE MELODY I got from a dream about an old friend. Oh BTW, Last.FM is where my music lives now if you care to listen. :)
