So, um. I hatehatehate cooking, because it's boring and I suck at it (which is probably the bigger reason), but because it's so hot that I can't be on computer very long unless I want to melt, and because I have days of no work, and I've time during the summer, I'm asking you

What is your favourite food? Give me the recipe!and then I'll hopefully ( Read more... )

So, my favorite recipe is probably for challah, which, if you don't already know, is a traditional jewish bread. It's not too difficult, just a bit time consuming ( ... )

You're Jewish? *new information*

Hey, cool :D Thanks so much!

I'm surprised that I think I understood most of that (usually I have trouble with new recipes!", but still I've a few questions...

The oiled bowl: how much oil? So that the dough becomes wet with it? Should there be enough for it to "float" there?

"Separate challah" - what does this mean?

Oven to 374 - Fahrenheit? I converted it to Celsius degrees and it seemed probable to me :P

For me, the "standard" flour to use is wheat flour - is that the right one or should it be some other kind?

I'm very enthusiastic to try this one, I hope I have the time for it tomorrow :D

yush I am. :D

The oiled bowl should have enough to slick the sides, and the outside of challah; not so much that the dough begins to be saturated by it.

Separating the challah isn't technically necessary; it's a tradition of separating a small portion out for others' use; now, it's burned so that we don't derive use of it. I included it in teh instructions mainly so that the amount of dough is correct, I wasn't sure if it would cook wrong if there was more dough. You shouldn't need to do it, though.

Oven Temp: yes, fahrenheit; sorry, i always forget to convert it. XD

Wheat flour is just fine; thats what is tradtionally used.

I'm glad the recipe makes sense; if you end up makig it, let me know how it works out!

Okay, I'll ignore it then. I loved how you included that and the prayer stuff on the recipe, though! :D

No problem, I'll have to convert everything else as well (we don't use cups, we use decilitres, for example), so one more is nothing :D

Yup, I'll even post pictures! :D

*hopes now that someone else will share their recipe as well*

Ooh, sounds good! I'll have to try that next week (I'm not at home during the weekend). I hope I'll manage to make it good :D Maybe I'll ask my little sister to help me, since she's so much better cook than I am...

A couple of questions: What is capscicum? Although of course I can make it without that too... And what kind of cheese do you mean?

Hi :D

Personally, we don't cook, but we like eating (even though we're so skinny). The problem with cooking is the washing up part.n At home with our family we have a cook, and when we're alone in our apartment it's a bit sad to cook for just two, since most likely there will be too much food for just the two of us to finish.

Filipino food has lots of influences from the countries that colonized us (especially Spain). If only you could come one day to try some of it, hehe. We could look for some recipes, and hopefully you'll like the taste of them. :D

I TOTALLY agree! And the chopping part, and the cooking part, and... :P

When you're alone, do you eat always out in restaurants and such, then?

If only you could come one day to try some of it, hehe.
Yeah :D

Oh, that'd be great! :D

Hmmm... I like my beef stroganoff, and my spaghetti bolognaise, and macaroni cheese, and so many foods... but we learn how to cook in the "a dash of this, a dollop of that, however much basil you feel like today" and so it becomes much harder to actually write out a recipe. COuld give it a try, though, if you're into one of them...

I could never cook with "how much you feel" style, because I suck at cooking so much :D Okay, I can decide the amount of water to cook macaroni like that, but nothing else...

Oh, that'd be nice! I like many pasta foods, so spaghetti bolognaise or macaroni cheese (or something else, if you want) would be great. I've heard of macaroni cheese, but never tasted that :P

I love cooking <3

I can do some okay bakerish stuff... I'll look up some recipes for you later!
I think I can find my own Exploded Muffin recipe (they're called that because, even though they taste delicious, they look like hell) and my aunt gave me the recipe for chocolate soufflé, a dessert that just melts my brain every time I eat it.

Okay, so I've a question :D

Do the eggwhites and egg yolks have to be separated? You mix them together, right? So can you just mix 4 eggs?
