A weird moment:

Realizing, browsing throuigh tech job openings, that when I enter the job market with a russian degree, I will likely be at least meeting the requirements for a sizable number of said tech jobs, and fully able to apply for them--at the very least some of the smaller ones ( Read more... )

I'm facing this very same issue as a fellow non-major. It's surprisingly easy to make it in tech without a CS degree.

Things you should do:
A) Get certifications. MCSE is /relatively/ easy to get. A+ is also fairly easy. NET+ never hurts, and if you can do enough reading to get cisco certified, you're virtually garunteed a job at ~$60,000 if you go into networking.

B) Experience and reference are A LOT better than a degree in 3-5 years down the road. Obviously you're already making those, because honestly, thats all college is for CS majors who co-op and network with people to get references.

C) sleep with people in power. this is always a good idea for any career.
