Yup, the owners of the media like to keep us sated with bullshit so we 'forget' about real issues. Out of sight, out of mind (?)

Well, to be fair to yourself, if you want to watch/listen/read about the real news, it's pretty much impossible to miss things like the latest celebrity breakdown (tho I somehow missed the $2 million dress; dammit! how could I not be paying more attention???) so it's not like you were running around buying tabloids in the checkout line. (or . . . were you? ::stares searchingly:: )

Maybe more to the point, there's nothing wrong w/taking some time out of the day to enjoy yourself w/light-hearted entertainment. I have huge issues w/the way paparazzi and the general media cover celebrities, and the way a lot of people react to that coverage, but nothing wrong (and for some of us probably something essentially right and damn near necessary) w/saving part of your day for play.

And you are giving great hordes of people waaaaay too much credit with "we all accept science and objectivity as the lens through which we view the world". Then again, I'm in a kind of a "blah, people are hopeless" mood this morn, so maybe I'm being ( ... )
