Author's notes:  I am SOOOO sorry, everyone!!!  This is why I don't normally do WIPs!!!  RL got away from me, and add to that a muse that didn't want to be co-operative with the fandom, and you have five weeks without the next part :(  I know where I want this fic to go but the problem is getting it there because the characters want to all be chatty and have romance while I'm trying to get Kurt back home!!  Hopefully, it won't be another five weeks before the next part but one never knows!! So if you're still reading this fic and haven't given up on me, please send me some lovely feedback so I can convince my muse it's worth getting more done quickly :)

PART SIX:

When Blaine woke the next morning, he was surprised to find himself virtually covering Kurt’s body with his own. Kurt’s face was only millimetres away from his, and their bodies were pressed together almost completely. Rather than move away, Blaine used the time to really study Kurt.

Awake, the younger man was fragile but there was strength as well; asleep, that strength disappeared to leave only vulnerability. Blaine felt his heart skip a beat as he realised that he wanted to protect Kurt. Hot on the heels of that thought was the one that he should never have taken Kurt away from his home. All things considered, the younger man had coped better than Blaine had expected, not counting the ill-conceived suicide attempt. But he shouldn’t have had to deal with any of this, and the pirate knew that now.

However, Blaine didn’t think he could let Kurt go. Despite only knowing the young man for a few days, he wanted Kurt to remain with him for a long time yet to come. Yet he knew that Kurt didn’t want to stay and really, Blaine couldn’t blame him. It wasn’t as if Kurt loved him enough to give up his family and his employment in Port Royal to live with a pirate. It wasn’t as if Kurt loved him at all. In fact, if Blaine hadn’t promised to take him home, the younger man would have stayed with Karofsky in spite of what that would have involved.

Blaine ran his forefinger lightly over the bruise marring the skin on Kurt’s cheek. It seemed like forever since they had left the Navy ship but in reality, it was less than twelve hours. Such a short amount of time since Kurt was in a situation that Blaine had inadvertently brought about. Then again, if the younger man had remained on land, Karofsky still could have pressed his advances and there wouldn’t have been any rescue.

Kurt awoke to the sensation of something touching his cheek. His eyes flew open to find Blaine staring at him but there was a faraway look on his face. Kurt moved his head slightly, away from the touch. “Blaine?”

With a jerk, the pirate brought his attention back to the present. “Good morning. How do you feel?” No, he wasn’t going to look at those tempting lips so close to his and remember how they felt last time…

Kurt could swear that he felt his lips tingle just from the strength of Blaine’s gaze. What was it about the pirate that made him feel all these strange things? “I’m fine. How is your leg?”

“What leg?” Blaine replied, distracted by thoughts of tasting those luscious lips again. He was so focused on his goal, he wasn’t feeling any pain.

“Stop it,” Kurt ordered. He wasn’t used to such concentrated attention, especially when it caused a lovely warmth inside him.

“Stop what?” Blaine asked as he leaned down to capture Kurt’s lips.

Kurt opened his mouth to protest but no sound came out as Blaine’s mouth descended on his. He knew he should move away but he really couldn’t find the will to do that. Every moment he spent in Blaine’s company made him dislike the pirate less, and he couldn’t deny that there was definitely some sort of attraction between them. He lifted one hand to Blaine’s side and lost himself in the kiss.

Blaine didn’t allow himself to think as he kissed Kurt; he didn’t want to stop. He knew breathing would become a necessity at some point but that wasn’t a concern right now. All that mattered was the kissing. And some touching too; Blaine let his fingers wander under Kurt’s shirt to lightly stroke bare skin. It felt so smooth…

Kurt gasped at the touch; it was so light as to almost tickle but it also created pleasure inside him. He hadn’t thought that a touch could create such a feeling. It scared him but at the same time, made him curious as to whether Blaine would respond the same way. So he tentatively lifted a hand to stroke the pirate’s stubbled cheek. It was such a contrast to his own smooth skin and he found that he liked the feel of it.

Desire surged through Blaine’s body at the hesitant touch. Most of his previous partners had been experienced men who only knew how to give and receive rough loving. Kurt was so different, not only in looks but in his innocence. He kept his own touch gentle, not wanting to scare the younger man.

Kurt’s hand moved from Blaine’s face around to the back of his neck, his fingers stroking through the short black hair there. The rain during the night had washed away whatever Blaine normally put in it to control it and Kurt liked its texture. He heard the pirate’s sharp intake of breath and realised that it probably a ticklish or erogenous spot - either way, it was one that he would maybe have to remember. If things went further. Which he didn’t want. Sort of.

He also realised that he was getting hard. It scared him a little because he wasn’t used to the reaction. Kurt could feel Blaine’s erection where the other man was pressed against his thigh, which added to his nerves; he didn’t know what to do. Given what he had been told about frottage by Nick and Jeff - which, frankly, was all he felt comfortable in doing right now and even that was pushing it - it could be done just as they were or, if Kurt was more adventurous, by shifting Blaine to lie in-between his legs so that their groins were pressed together.

Blaine had his own ideas. Flexing his leg upwards slightly, he could feel Kurt’s erection and smiled smugly to himself. Kurt liked him. Therefore, Blaine was going to show him just how good being with another man could be, which would have the added bonus of releasing all the pent-up desire inside him as well. So he broke the kiss and swung one leg over Kurt, ready to straddle him…

…and promptly fell off the bed, startled, when there was a knock on the door.

Kurt couldn’t help it; he started laughing. Blaine looked so surprised to be sprawled on the floor, and Kurt thought it was so cute.

Blaine grimaced as his various aches and injuries made themselves known, having been rudely jolted by the solid floor. “Just a minute!” he called to whoever was outside the door before looking up at Kurt. “It’s not funny.”

“Of course not,” Kurt agreed, trying to stifle his laughter. Feeling sorry for Blaine - because it couldn’t have been nice to fall out of bed, especially with an injured leg - Kurt held his hand out to the pirate to assist him up.

Instead of standing, Blaine used his weight to pull Kurt out of bed and on top of him. “Still funny?” he asked at the surprised look on Kurt’s face.

“Just a little,” Kurt stated, sounding slightly out of breath. It wasn’t just the impact of landing on Blaine’s body that had caused it though; it was the fact that their groins were now lined up and both men were still hard. “I should, uh…” He quickly scrambled off of Blaine, accidentally kneeing the pirate’s inside thigh, just missing the delicate area.

Blaine curled up reflexively, even though the pain wasn’t as bad as it could have been if Kurt had hit a little higher. He was going to kill whoever had interrupted them because he wouldn’t get another chance to seduce Kurt for hours. Blaine used the bed to haul himself up, being careful not to put too much weight on his injured leg, and called out, “Come in!”

The door opened and Pavarotti flew inside, closely followed by Wes (who, of course, was walking). “Good morning,” Wes said cheerfully, his keen eyes taking in the rumpled state of both men, not to mention the swollen lips. “I hope we’re not interrupting anything.”

“Not at all,” Blaine lied as Pav went to sit on Kurt’s shoulder. “So, what’s up?”

“Nothing, just making sure that Kurt was alright after the storm last night,” Wes also lied. When Blaine hadn’t appeared earlier when the sun had risen, Wes and the other pirates had been curious as to why. Bets had been made, and Wes would have the fun of going back out and telling them that he had definitely interrupted something.

“I’m fine,” Kurt answered, not taking his attention away from Pav. Then he remembered something. “But you should check Blaine’s leg.” He wasn’t going to do that, not so soon after that kiss. “Pav and I will go get some food.”

Blaine watched Kurt leave and then turned his attention back to Wes. “You couldn’t have waited?”

“How was I to know that you were going to bed Kurt this morning?” Wes countered with a smirk. “Your timing leaves something to be desired though.”

“Shut up,” Blaine admonished as the pain from his leg finally made itself known. He sat on the edge of the bed - and no, he wasn’t going to think about what had been happening right there only a minute ago. He wouldn’t allow himself to think about that until night fell and they were alone together again.

**********

Kurt made sure he kept out of Blaine’s way during the day - not an easy job on a ship as small as The Dalton. But he kept busy, helping the other pirates with their tasks or chatting to them as he did some mending.

He couldn’t help glancing at Blaine every now and then though. The memory of their bodies pressed together was very distracting - in a good way - at times and he couldn’t help comparing it with how it had felt with Karofsky. With the soldier, Kurt had felt only fear and disgust; with Blaine, he had actually felt desire. He hadn’t thought he would ever find someone he could feel that about and now that he had, it was quite heady. Kurt sighed. If only Blaine wasn’t a pirate…

Still, it couldn’t go any further. They would be parting ways as soon as possible and would never see each other again. Better he not give the attraction the opportunity to deepen because he was positive he didn’t want a broken heart. The problem was going to be how to avoid giving in to Blaine for the remainder of the journey.

Blaine, for his part, kept out of Kurt’s way once he realised the younger man didn’t want to talk to him. It hurt but Blaine let him have time to think and hopefully decide in favour of shared pleasures.

*********

When night fell, Kurt was the first one into the cabin, Pav sitting on his shoulder. He headed over to the couch but Pav bit his ear. “Ow! What was that for?”

“Kiss-kiss!” Pavarotti squawked, bobbing up and down. He had noticed his two humans hadn’t talked together all day and he was determined to do something about that. “Kiss-kiss!”

“Kiss who? Blaine?” Kurt inquired, rubbing his ear. “That’s not a good idea, Pav.”

“Kiss-kiss!” Pav reiterated before flying off Kurt’s shoulder and landing on the bed. He waddled up towards the pillows and then tried to pull the top sheet down with his beak.

“No,” Kurt refused. He crossed his arms. “I am not kissing him and I am not getting into bed with him.”

Frustated, Pav launched himself into the air and started flying around his human’s head, hoping to herd him towards the bed.

“Pav!” What had got into the parrot? Kurt spun around, ducking when Pavarotti flew over his head. “Stop that!”

When the bird didn’t stop, Kurt tried to move away, inadvertently going towards the door. He was so focused on Pav that he didn’t see Blaine enter the room until he collided with him.

“Oomph!” Blaine immediately reached out and grabbed onto Kurt to stop himself from falling. When he steadied himself, he asked, “What’s going on?”

“Kiss treasure!” Pav ordered, flying around the pair. “Rawk! Kiss treasure!”

“What?” Blaine looked at the bird in confusion. What was Pav talking about?

Kurt took a step back out of Blaine’s arms, wanting to be out of reach when Blaine realised what Pav meant. However, he didn’t get far before the parrot was flying around his head again, forcing him back towards the pirate.

Oh. Blaine got it when Pavarotti herded Kurt towards him. Why Pav wanted him to kiss Kurt was beyond Blaine but the idea sounded wonderful. He guided Kurt towards the bed under the guise of trying to get away from Pav and once there, locked his arms around the younger man’s waist and fell backwards onto the bed.

Kurt automatically put his hands out to prevent himself from falling, and they landed either side of Blaine’s head. The position pushed their groins together; fortunately for Kurt, neither one of them was hard. Yet. “Let me go.”

“Pav doesn’t want me to,” Blaine replied, grinning up at Kurt. “He said I should kiss you and I get the feeling if I don’t, he’s just going to keep harassing us.” As if to agree, Pavarotti squawked from his new position at the head of the bed.

“Since when do you take orders from a bird?” Kurt questioned as he tried to squirm his way out of the embrace. Then he froze. It seemed that Blaine liked the squirming.

“Since his orders make sense.” Blaine didn’t let Kurt protest any longer, using one hand to draw him down into a kiss.

Kurt didn’t even think about protesting this time, he just let himself get swept up by the desire coursing through him. It seemed less scary this time, possibly because he was on top of Blaine instead of underneath.

The kissing went on for awhile until Kurt got uncomfortable. He shifted off of Blaine and tried to slow his breathing. Being so aroused was a scary feeling and to know it was only from kissing was even worse. What would it be like to go further? Even as he thought it, Kurt’s eyes went to Blaine’s groin. Did he dare look or even touch?

“Do you want to touch?” Blaine asked, his eyes following Kurt’s gaze.

“I--” Kurt’s fingers flexed as he brought his eyes up to look at Blaine. He really wished he had some experience because he felt so hopelessly naïve. He knew he shouldn’t do anything else with the pirate but right now, he really wanted to.

Blaine saw Kurt’s hesitation and reached out to take the younger man’s hand. He gently caressed the soft skin for a few moments before placing Kurt’s hand over his erection.

Kurt’s breath hitched in surprise. It was one thing to feel that hardness against him but another to actually touch it (even if it was covered in material). It felt quite big - too big for the thing that Nick and Jeff had told him about. Which he was never going to try. But this was alright. His fingers curled a little more over the erection as Blaine held his hand there.

“Is this too much?” Blaine asked when Kurt remained silent.

“I… I don’t know,” Kurt replied honestly. He felt the hardness swell under his hand and his eyes widened in surprise. “Do you…?” he trailed off, unable to finish the question.

“Like you touching me like this? Oh yes,” Blaine replied. If he could just get Kurt to move his hand a little more, Blaine thought he might even climax without getting naked. Because Kurt didn’t seem inclined to move his hand, the pirate started to guide him.

Too much! Kurt yanked his hand out of Blaine’s grip. “I… no!” Moving would led to other things and he didn’t want that to happen. He wasn’t ready for that to happen. “I can’t!”

“You can,” Blaine encouraged, reaching out to capture Kurt’s hand again.

“No. I’m not like you,” Kurt evaded the pirate’s grip. “I can’t… you know… with someone I barely know.” He would have scrambled off the bed if he wasn’t on the wrong side of it; to get away, he would have to go over Blaine.

“Then let’s get to know each other.” Blaine ignored his erection as he carefully turned onto his side to face Kurt. He didn’t want to wait but he would if it got him Kurt in the long run. Or sooner. “What do you want to know?”

Kurt was speechless for a few seconds. Did Blaine really care about such things or was he just humouring him? It probably didn’t matter; he should take advantage of being able to ask questions while he could. “Why did you become a pirate? Your speech and clothes indicate that you are well educated.”

Blaine sighed; that would be the first question Kurt asked. Still, he took a deep breath and started to explain.
