And in Not So Brief Review...

First, I have to tell you guys that I didn't have a ticket, only Jason did. Was going to buy at the door and go in. However, as was mentioned in my last post, The Prophet Bar screwed everyone who wanted to see Scale the Summit who hadn't yet bought one. Jason went in and I went to the back of the line, just as StS was starting. Within five minutes ( Read more... )

cool cool cool cool cool! Sounds like I need to get hands on some of these bands, they sound like the sort of thing I'd love to listen to.

Sammi, STS' 2nd album 'Carving Desert Canyons'. GET IT. And I can't remember what Cynic's albums are called but they're amazing too.

Oh sure, time has passed, but it sure seems like not so long ago I was still in my 20's and my 40's seemed a long ways off!

Aye, I stumbled across Cynic fairly recently and liked 'em. Pity is, they played Wacken when I was there, but I missed 'em. They were on at about 1300 on Fri (and Maiden were the headliner the previous night), so I missed 'em. First band I was really keen for that day was Kamelot at 1600.

That's the problem with Wacken, there's so much good metal that you invariably miss stuff (this is about the 3rd band that I had the opportunity to see at Wacken and missed, later regretting it).

Speaking of, this year's lineup has some fairly good stuff, including Maiden again. I *really* want to go back, and I do have tickets, but I'm getting more and more worried that airfares will be unobtainable. Maybe I shouldn't have bought the Harley, oi. Ahh well, time will tell.

I'd love to go to Wacken if it weren't for all the fucking people. I don't do well in HUGE gatherings like that. I get weirdly claustrophobic.

Well, it's a bit different in that they're all fellow freaks. :) Quite a lot like a dead show really. For me anyway, while it was 70+k there, it felt more like an arena vibe (10-20k) than a festival (though admittedly nowhere near a club vibe).

*heh* Arena vibe I can deal with, to some degree. As long as I'm not all packed in with them. I don't trust herd mentality in an emergency and I'd be *stuck*.
