Jeff made the mistake of wading into an area that was posted "no swimming" but none of the reports I've seen (including interviews with his band members who were present) mention anything about alcohol and from what I've seen Jeff was opposed to drug use entirely.

That would make my physically ill to see those words in print.. accusing such an amazing songwriter of drug-induced death is... disgusting to me...

Tho.. glad to meet another Buckley admirer.

Me and Chris(my hubby, plays bass in our band),are rabid fans. I have studied his social significance for people for thesis, written several articles about him and his work. Speculative pieces on where/what he would be creating now,and general supportive pieces.
I just admire the man so much, not to the I need to be hospitalized length, lol. But as far as another human musician could take it.
Such beauty,now gone.
The kicker is,he died on my birthday in 1997. May29th is my daughter and I's birthday. Very eery.
We're definitely admirers. We cover his tunes from time to time, mostly We could be so happy baby,if we wanted to be, and Eternal Life.
We haven't done them in awhile, cause we've moved on from that period, but I am thinking of doing another one for our current set. I just cannot get over his genious.

Yep,definitely another Jeff admirer. I ten to ramble, sorry, lol.
Cheers!

bah.. don't apologize for the rambling.. *snerk* I tend to do it too.. especially in real life. and especially about things that excite me.

I think the lyrics that he wrote would lend themselves to a more punk/goth interpretation musically... I would like to hear covers of his music done more.

I dated a girl for a while that was trying to organize a tribute concert to Jeff Buckley to be played at a venue where he and his band frequented; but she and Jeff's mother had some terrible falling out and she was barred from using Jeff's name to promote the idea.. so it rather collapsed.

Sucks too because she even had people like Angie Aparo ready to do it as soon as it congealed.

I play him for some people, some latch on others don't like him cause he's too pure,to primitive ya know?
All I know is,is one of my biggest musical inspirations ever.
I'd d a tribute concert here, but most of the fuckwads where I live don't even know who he is,except for indie kids, and their too busy hiding in record shop to come out for something like that, lol.

Cheers!
