Yeahhh that made me twitch. There had to have been a better way to show that the dress didn't fit her or even was just not something she was comfortable in and still serve the same purpose for the story.

The hair I guess could be fixable, and a sewing-type person could make the dress? But the fact that they did the doll that way to begin with is just...aggravating and weird. And kind of stupid. I wonder if they're getting feedback at all, and if so, if they might add the more comfortable outfit.

I haven't even seen the movie yet, but I can gather the gist between the trailer and people's comments. XD

I haven't seen the movie yet, so I googled to see the doll you were talking about. I'm not sure if the one in the pale blue dress with the sash is the one you're referring to (none of the dresses I saw scream "corset" to me) but apparently that's the Mattel version. The Disney version has her in a teal dress with a cape and a bow+arrows, which looks like the outfit I've seen in previews. So there's hope if you wanted to buy one.

To you point, it annoys me that they do that too, but it's hard to be a feminist with a 3-year-old niece. I'm sure sexism and socialization plays a role, but I've found that little girls really do WANT the doll with the fancy dress more than the plainer/more realistic one. And that's the real reason why there's a never-ending tide of princess and wedding/bridal dolls on the market - because toymakers know what appeals to their target audience. To us it looks like sexism (and I think it is, to some degree), but to little girls it's not really about getting married to some dude or actually being a princess - it
