So! Apparently April was Xeno Month for me.

This is probably the only fic I'll write that takes Dirge of Cerberus as canon, and I'm taking a couple of liberties. But the image the prompt inspired was compelling....

There's something awfully creepy about Lucrecia being so clinical and yet casual about the whole thing. Works nicely against my recollection of whininess in Dirge!Lucrecia.

Thank you! Lucrecia's personality was the thing I took the most liberties with -- I find her a lot more interesting as a mad scientist than as, well, somebody who spends her whole time being weepy. :D

I already mentioned that I freaking adore this one, but it seriously bears repeating. I love how Lucrecia's a scientist here, not a wet blanket. I love how out of it Vincent is. And Lucrecia's observations about Chaos and the reactions he provokes - PURR.

In conclusion: big damn love. I was so thrilled to get this for h_c, and I'm still thrilled with it upon reread.
