FYI fitting the bling inside the window recess would still have left a gap for light to come through simply to leave space for the cord, so unless it was fit snug to the window (which would probably interfere with the handles) we'll have to cope with the gap. One thing I could look into is getting small magnets to snap the blind to the wall but it won't block things out completely (still it's better than what it was)

you can get tile paint, and its not that hard to use!
