2012 in review

Dec 31, 2012 19:06

Since April I have posted 50 podfics in 2 fandoms ranging from G to NC-17 comprising a total of 17:06:44 with an average podfic length of 0:20:32

And with excessive amounts of pretty much self-explanatory graphs:

I have 6 podfics I haven’t posted and probably won’t. 2 are shameless PWP, 2 are ficlets recorded as tests while troubleshooting and I’m not sure I want to post the other two. I actually recorded one podfic in the Young Avengers fandom but shameless PWP so *shrug*

In progress refers to anything from the initial raw recording to something in post-production waiting for cover-art.

I’m waiting for a response from one author and sorting things out with another.

The “Will Dos” are series where I’ve podficced at least one story and plan to do the rest.

All further stats are based on posted stories.

Length

Apparently I need to accept into my heart that I’m all about short podfics. Which is disheartening because a lot of my favourite Harry/Draco stories are long.

Rating

I also need to accept that I keep pushing all the porn lower down on the list. Also, this chart is based on authors’ ratings and one person’s PG-13 is another person’s R, etc.

Category

This one is my most iffy graph, because the gen vs pairing is mostly my arbitrary decision. There were a few where there was a pairing mentioned but the story didn’t really focus on the pairing and I went with gen, and others where I went with pairing anyway. It was dependent on my mood.

Also, colour me shocked that I actually managed to pod more MM than gen. I was so sure when I started this chart that there would be more gen. I blame the MCU for this. I seem to gravitate towards all the genfic there.

Permissions and things

This one's pretty simple. Occasions where I PMed or emailed the author vs times the author already had blanket permission. Situations where the author has a statement of "ask me first, and I'll probably say yes" count in the wrote-to-author column. If I've podded multiple works of the same person I've usually written separate times, so those count as separate occasions (possibly they shouldn’t since I know the author is likely to say yes, but that's too much thinking for a rough overview like this.) The collaboration refers to my pod-together project.

With regards to the MCU, I'm a bit surprised because I thought that I had podded more BP authors than wrote-to authors, but apparently not. I'm one of those people who doesn't really stress too much about writing to a complete stranger asking for permission to transform their work. (Note the "stress too much". I still get somewhat stressed). But I still wish that there was more BP than wrote-to.

Other stats

Pairings: My most podded pairing is Harry/Draco, which is good. I would be ashamed if the OTP of my heart fell short. My second is Steve/Bucky, which is the where-did-that-come-from pairing. (Being a rivalshipper of long I was fully expecting to ship Loki/Thor (which I do) and Steve/Tony (which I'm meh about). I did not expect a best-friends-angstship to eat my life).

Authors: I've podded 5 stories by coneycat, and 2 by lanyon by virtue of podding series. On the unrelated stories front, 3 by faithwood, 2 by astolat and 2 by woldy.

I'd love to spend more time looking at whether I podfic very short stories if I have to write to an author, or if I only do that for BP authors etc, but I've already spent way too much time on this :)

statistics, it's still about me
