Lorikeets - Psittaculidae loriinae

Possibly one of Australias brightest and loudest birds. Today's photograph is of two lorikeets resting and preening each other in a gum-tree.

These birds live on a diet of pure sugar, and rejoice in loud calls and energetic activities around NSW. Their bright colours certainly reflect their personalities and they are slowly becoming a favourite pet ( Read more... )

Yes, the picture is fantastically clear as if we are seeing them nearby with our own eyes. Great piece of work.

I am happy to have captured the image with its colour.

Over time I have struggled to balance such a scene, but today it worked well.

Perfectly well. The loreekits are so bright it is hard to believe they are real (writing this from the country where most birds are unimpressively coloured).

Yes, bright both in personality and colour.

In many ways our wildlife is beyond belief.
