Lorikeets - Psittaculidae loriinae

Possibly one of Australias brightest and loudest birds. Today's photograph is of two lorikeets resting and preening each other in a gum-tree.

These birds live on a diet of pure sugar, and rejoice in loud calls and energetic activities around NSW. Their bright colours certainly reflect their personalities and they are slowly becoming a favourite pet

Perfectly well. The loreekits are so bright it is hard to believe they are real (writing this from the country where most birds are unimpressively coloured).
