i never really cared, i just cared about the presents! I think i never really believed because all of the brothers and sisters already knew that he was not real.

I believed when I was a kid....it didn't really stop the magic of Christmas when I found out that Santa wasn't real....when you think about it, the magic isn't about Santa anyway, it's about the birth of our King and Savior! So, even though the "legend" of Santa faded somewhat, it still was magical...all the lights and presents, the tree, the smells, the cooking...that all adds to the magic ( ... )

Good points. I agree that the "magic" of christmas was not just Santa, but Santa was HUGE for me! Also, for most of my childhood my parents were not Christians. My family also still sets out cookies and all that. It mainly brings back the fond memories of Christmas past. I'm sure all of that is pure enjoyment and I agree that there is nothing wrong with it.

I took great effort to make sure I didn't come across as saying that I believe Santa is wrong. My main point was the deception part of it. I just don't think that deceiving children is harmless fun, no matter how you package it. I know alot of people disagree.

I love the way the Germans do Christmas! Sounds like we could learn a thing or two over here.

Thanks for the comment. It brings a little balance to everything.

I think you did a very good job in your delivery...I didn't get the impression at all that you thought Santa was wrong....deception is wrong though and you have definitely raised some issues for thought!!
