well, I think the idea is that since if you die in Soul Society you become reborn... wouldn't you miss everyone you spent all that time with? You don't keep the memories of your life in Soul Society. And so many of the shinigami have friendships with one another, and "live" for hundreds, and in some cases thousands of years there...imagine living for a thousand years with everything you knew, and all your friends...dying is scary. No matter when.
Secondly, They have to fight because they're trying to stop Aizen and the Arrancar from (spoiler so i won't be specific) doing what it is they're doing and causing trouble - because the "bad guys" are fighting, it's not as if they're going to just say "okay, you can kill us all and forget about the natural balance of souls and your evil plot that obviously will change the world for the worse."
In short, It's not just about their own individual lives, and even if it was, they have very good reason to not be reborn any time soon.
MARY-ELLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *TACKLEATTACKGLOMPS* ^_______^*
*clears throat*
Anywho, yes, everything you said makes sense. I was just wondering if it was possible for them to die. Which, I guess it is? *shrugs*
What you said about the baddies fighting and so they can either lie down and take it or fight back makes more sense to me. Everyone in Bleach really believes they are right, so it makes sense they would fight to defend it.
Also, I didn't know that about the memories thing. That's a good reason why they would fight to stay alive.
... I just think it's kinda silly to have characters try to kill each other when they're all already dead. ^.^;;
So, how are you? *glomps more* Happy every holiday since the last time I talked to you!! Are you going to animenext? ^__^*
Yep, they can die again. Thier second body is thier soul body, and when they die they become particals of spirit dust until they're reborn. (Ishida uses these particals of spirit dust to form his arrows)
Yeah at first I thought so too, about fighting to kill each other when they're already dead, but it's more like...continuation of first life until you're reborn. Weird concept, but anime is full of weird concepts.
I'm good! And...probably not. I am going to Animazement in may this year, which is in NC though. And next November to Nekocon again...that's about it for my convention budget, and no job and having to pay 173$ for pills every month. Fun stuff.

Where is Nekocon? *wants to see you*
That's interesting that Ishida uses people dust for his arrows. How uncaring, lol!
Also, I have to disagree with you. Paying tons of money on meds is not fun.
