Haven't finished watching it yet (it's rather long and I do have a life, honest!) but I really like the Silurians.
Great scripts, good performances and this great plot where no one's really in the wrong. There's bad elements on both sides, human and Silurian, and people trying to do their best but hitting fear and prejudice. The Brig is right to do what he did - he's a soldier and the base is a security risk - but the Doctor's also right to call it murder.
Shame about the music though; you're right, it verges on torture. They did some strange experiments in the early 70s with music, all of which were UTTER FAIL. I try to ignore it. :D
This one high pitched one sounds HILARIOUS.
Hee, I think that one's Peter Halliday; he was Packer in The Invasion.
Oh, sexism in Doctor Who, will you never end?
Nope! But now is not the time for some of my issues with the new series. ;) At least Liz got to wear a boiler suit in the caves, thanks to Jon Pertwee complaining to the producers; they were originally going to send a scientist

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the Silurians' beeping telekinesis was completely obnoxious. I have mixed feelings about this episode. Some of it was funny as hell and some was completely dumb

The Brig and that guy are going to kiss! Or not. Damn.
I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING. They got so close.
If it exists and it's necessary for saving your butt, it's in the Doctor's pocket. Always.
Unless, of course, it's a convenient plot point, in which the Doctor must wander off somewhere to find something, usually involving a TARDIS part.
Several 1000 years? But... Okay, first he's 400-something, then 925, then 907, now his lifetime spans "several 1000 years"? How old are you, Doctor?
I think he's just an old man who lies about his age based on convenience. "I don't believe you." "I'm a million years old, young man!" "Oh, Doctor, you should take a nap." "What? I'm only 400 years old. Bah."
Also, I don't think even he knows how old he is. Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey. I'm sure you lose track after a while when you don't even know what day it is.
I would have enjoyed this story arc better if the Brig and that guy had snogged. Just saying.
I think you're right about the Doctor choosing an age that suits his purposes. I have a feeling it's somewhere in the 900's, since he seems to keep going back to that number.
