Katie was making her way through the halls of Hogwarts, heading back to the common room when she heard music streaming out of the trophy room. It had a lively yet calm demeanor to it, keeping both emotions alive at the same time. Creeping down the steps she peered into the room and found the most unlikely
person doing homework as he listened to the muggle composer, Mozart.

“It’s not polite to spy, you know.” Katie jumped at his voice, how did he know I was standing here?

“I could have been busy, you know?” Marcus swung around to look at a blushing Katie.

“And I should care…why?” Katie asked, getting her surprise out of the way.

“Because your're that noble and ‘always do the right thing’ Gryffindor.” Marcus remarked.

Katie grinned deviously, dropping her bag on the stairs she walked up to him, “And who said Gryffindors were particularly nice?”

Marcus grinned, “Nobody I suppose.” Placing down his quill he put his hand out to her, “Care to dance?”

Katie looked at the offered hand suspiciously, “Your motive? And don’t say you don’t have one, you Slytherins always do. Some mysterious way to trick and manipulate, your evil. So, Flint, your motive?”

“Who said all Slytherins kick puppies as a hobby?” Marcus asked with a raised brow and mischievous grin.

Katie laughed, and took his hand, “Because this isn’t awkward.” She laughed quietly.

“It’s nice to do something different for once.” He muttered.

Katie wasn’t sure how long she danced, but she knew that by the time she had picked up her bag to leave she felt happier then she had in a long time. “I still find it hard to believe there’s no alternative motive here.” Katie looked up threw her lashes.

“There’s always a motive behind everyone’s actions, but who said it’s a bad motive?” Marcus raised a brow. Katie laughed and with one last look behind her, she made her way out of the room; oblivious to the mischievous smirk and devious glint in Marcus’s dark eyes.
