I will be going overseas! From the 3rd to the 9th, I will be in India, and then from the 10th to the 14th, I will be in Bali. So to those people who posted requests at my drabble meme, I will probably be working on those requests while travelling, but in all likelihood will not be able to post them until after I return. My deepest apologies.

I know what you mean about the sound and the music and poetry of language. It's why I love James Joyce even though a lot of people find him very hard to read - it's language as music, not as a literal this=means=this relationship.

It's why I cherish my bilingual editions of Rimbaud, although I don't know French, and Anna Akhmatova, although I don't know Russian, and Beowulf, although I don't know Old English. And why I had SO MUCH FUN last time I was in Brazil sprucing up my Portuguese with a dictionary and my new prized possession, the whole set of O Senhor dos Anéis :D

If you get a chance, I highly recommend studying a little Latin. Dead language? Useless? Far from it! It'll help you not just with the Roman poets and the early Church writings, but also with Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Romanian.

Oh, I've LONGED to study Latin for years. I do want to learn it to read the stuff by the Roman poets and with languages like Italian and French. *sigh* Do you know Latin? *is envious* I hope whichever university I manage to enter offers it.

literal this=means=this relationship

The problem is, that's how we analyse poetry in Lit. :(
