Sirius Black Fest 2013: Fic: The Target Shooting Photograph

Oct 25, 2013 13:38

Today's entry is not a traditional fest entry, in that it wasn't written for the fest as per the rules. However, the translation of this story (which is an onerous task) was done specifically for the fest as a gift for the community. Enjoy!

This is stunning! Author, what a wonderful idea for a fic -- so unique and compelling. (And I wouldn't actually label it AU! It fits within the canon timeline, doesn't it?) At any rate, I adore the idea and how it slowly unfolds without an extra word to mess it up. Sparse and lovely. And translator, you really captured the essence of the language here. The English flows beautifully, but it still retains that certain something else, a few words and metaphors here and there that indicate a slightly different literary mindset to the writing, and I adore that about it. ♥

Oh this was nice, such a wonderful and interesting premise. And very well translated because it flowed really well.

Snape and Sirius had lovely interaction and their behaviour and reactions felt so natural.

Thank you so much for translating this. I've lost track of how often I've looked at a Russian story and wished I could read it. And such a beautiful translation! It has an elegance that is clearly much more than a word for word substitution. Such a spare yet haunting story.
