Aziraphale plushie!

I made this plushie of Aziraphale from Good Omens as a gift for Jen aka steadfast. :D The entire thing is stitched by hand (though the hair, eyes, mouth and wings are glued on) and it took me a very long time. XD

Originally I was going to use yellow cloth for his hair, since Jen's version of him has really big unruly golden curls. But cutting each individual curl out of yellow cloth and then gluing it on took me FOREVER and was extremely frustrating. Even worse was that at Art Friend, they did sell little curls to make hair for dolls, but they only had light brown. After a year they had black curls on the rack as well, but still no gold. Then a week or two ago I was at another mall with my best friend Lakshmi, and I was browsing in Spotlight, and as I looked for embroidery thread I noticed the doll-making section. And lo and behold, yellow curls!

The original hair, with the new curls next to it as I tried to decide which looked better:

I did settle on the shop curls since it would be easier. Then I opened the packet and realised it was just one very very VERY long thin golden 'lock' of hair, curled up like a telephone wire. I'd have to cut the length I needed, curl it up again, apply some glue to ensure it stayed together in one curl instead of looking like a Slinky, and then glue it to his head. Still, it only took me last evening and this afternoon, compared to his frustrating and time-consuming original hair which I snipped off very happily.

Also, he's wearing a light blue tunic underneath that kelly-blue robe.

I cut slits in the robe and tunic to accommodate the bases of the wings before gluing them onto his back.

His little book! I'm quite proud of it. :D I was also sad that I could not find tartan material to make his robes from, so I settled for tartan wrapping paper inside the book. The cover is just folded cardboard with red cloth glued on, and the pages are white felt.

And ta-daa! Baby Zizi reading aloud from his book, all ready to be packed up and mailed to Jen. ♥ I'd quite like to do an Archangel Michael for myself after this, I even bought all the coloured felt I needed to make him in his armour holding a sword, but I do not know if I will have the time to finish him before I go to Australia next year. D:

art and crafts, good omens
