I have seen this question come up on occasion and even though it seems obvoius to me, I am curious to see what others may think. MMR cases are on the rise in this country and so is the movement of people withholding immunizations from their children. Awesome- I just finished a stats paper on this.

I don't think it's abuse, but a legitimate case can definitely be made that it's a matter of public health. I do think that states should require it on those grounds.

Parents who are opposed to all vaccines have no business raising children imho, but that's a dangerous road. :-)

So what do you think is the biggest misconception among those who refuse to vaccinate?

Does an unvaccinated child only pose a threat to other unvaccinated children? Or is there a wider threat posed by this?

It's a strange question, but one that am afraid I am going to have to face if I have kids. I am not a fan of Big Brother telling people what to do.

Seeing as you have actually dealt with this, do you fear any repercussions from not getting vaccinated?

Let's assume that there is no family history in your case, would you still get the vaccinations? If not, what makes you confident that they won't be at risk for any of the major diseases?
