Jonny & Match Point

Oct 30, 2005 01:32

I couldn't see the new Woody Allen movie on Wednesday as I had decided : too many people (Woody Allen is really loved and admired here) and no place left in the three cinemas I tried. I made up for it watching my UK Batman DVD that had just arrived that very day. And I was reminded of how brilliant that movie is ! I just couldn't take my eyes off ( Read more... )

both Emily Mortimer and Scarlett Johansson

Oh shit, I *love* Emily - I had no idea she was in this movie. So I totally have to see this; since it's a Woody Allen flick I'll probably see it with Mum, who's loved Woody since What's Up Tiger Lily back in the 60's. (Something tells me she'll appreciate Jonny Rhys Meyers as well!) ;)

This Chris is a go-getter...is that really the word for "arriviste"?

I think the term is "upwardly mobile"; if I understand correctly, he comes from a working-class background and is trying to make his way among upper-class people.

"Hey you, Irish, would you like a little Scottish before supper?"

Does Emily say this? I can't recall if she's actually Scots or English. And is he being offered Scotch (whisky)?

LOVE the blindfold pic! :D

Emily is just great, and she really embodies her character. I think the way I reacted to her (and I'm sure many other people will only find her nice and sweet...) shows how much she IS Chloe ( ... )

I tell you, there's only great actors in this film, and most of them beautiful ;)

I hadn't heard about it either (or I had totally forgotten hearing about it from Cannes ?) before this month when I read the very, very good reviews it got in the movie magazines (that I can upload if you're interested). I don't think you'll get the film before the end of the year, or maybe even 2006. I checked the IMDB to understand why I hadn't heard about it on my flist before and that's how I discovered France was the first country to get it. I don't remember about Canada but the USA won't get it before the end of December, I think.

Yes, I was able to see Young Adam before anyone else I know online, and it felt lonely because I couldn't really talk about it ;) As I said to Alex not too long ago, I want to be American in my next life, to see the movies when you get to see them !

Here are the four reviews I had scanned : sorry to the other people, it's in French, and if you try to translate them, be aware that the last one is just a bit too spoilerish for my taste, but it's up to you to read it or not ;)

I thought you would appreciate that last one particularly ;D I've been daydreaming about Arthur, Curt AND Brian recently ;) even if Brian always disappears along the way. I'll have to get back to that private post soon !

Are you a member of some of the JRM comms ? If you think they would be interested in this post and the previous one, please don't hesitate to use the pics or to link to both entries. I watch them from time to time but I hesitate to join for this time only, when I have so much trouble to keep up with the few I'm on already :)

*sigh* I know all about time, or the lack thereof. What a shame to have to go to work when you could be ogling boys all day ;) I just want you to know that you can pass the pics to your friends who love Jonny one day or the other, I'd hate for them to be forgotten here.

I'm in love with your icon *licks* I was scanning some CD covers and booklets two days ago, among them the VG OST. I couldn't stop drooling over that pic for some very long minutes and thinking about what I could do with it now that I have it and it's HUGE ;D

It is just hormones, and for me these days it's all because of Match Point. It'll pass sooner or later. I drool over JRM/Brian, but as for Ewan/Curt and Christian/Arthur, I'm in love too ;D
