birthday suit? plotting? birthday suit plotting?
Hi! First, thanks to everyone for being nice/helpful/welcoming to a big old newbie like me. Iiii would now like to try a bit of a plot in commemoration of Raven's birthday... or the anniversary of the broadcast of the episode where her birthday was shown, anyway. That would be this Saturday, February 5th. So, from the beginning:
Canon stuff first... briefly, Raven's a half-demon sorceress whose powers are driven by emotion, and if she allows her control of her powers--i.e., emotions--to slip, her father (the demon Trigon. Trigon the Terrible, even!), an incarnation of all things evil and all of that stuff, might take her over and wreak havoc. But the specific details of this ancestry were a closely guarded secret until Raven's birthday last year, when Slade/Deathstroke :O came back from the dead or dead-ish, thanks to Trigon, to deliver a message to Raven in a remarkably graphic mind-assault. This message was that she'd be destined to be the portal that brings Trigon to the world, shortly thereafter followed by the end of said world. Raven eventually lost hope and gave in.
Long story short, however, thanks to the power of hope and friendship she eventually won anyway! She gathered all her powers, as demonstrated by her cloak changing color (from blue to white), and she blasted Trigon out of existence, or back where he came from, or back inside her--it's not clear. But whatever happened, she does not trust her birthday. Not one bit.
Therefore, she is going to ask everyone to leave her alone on Saturday. There'll be another part of the message that can be fairly easily hacked (not the best with computers, Raven) that'll mention that it's her birthday, and roughly where she's going to be. After which anyone who's interested can follow her, vindictively or curiously, (PINKIE PIE MIGHT THROW A SURPRISE PARTY???) to find her camping out with a mirror.
This mirror serves as a gate into a pocket dimension inside her mind, where the emotions she represses daily can surface. Unfortunately, others than her can go in that way, too. And it's just possible that someone (or someones) will. If they do, there they'll find a big red demon claiming to be Raven's father (actually a manifestation of her rage). If you want to get to know Raven's parents, then, you are hereby invited!
Meanwhile, on the outside, for whatever reason--the trespassers, the Core, Trigon, a bad hair day--the mirror is on the fritz, such that Raven starts to shuffle rapidly between emotions in a kind of multipolar behavior. If you ever wanted to talk to someone whose moods change uncontrollably every five seconds, here's your chance.
Finally, whether due to problems in the mirror, annoyance on the outside, or the tension of the day, Raven will be very prone to snapping into her red-cloaked four-eyed rage version and wreaking some serious havoc on the entire city block around them. So, finally, if you want to beat Raven up :( or take her down gently, or get hurt/injured yourself (or killed?! Raven would feel really bad about that, though. But everything is on the table!), come plot with me :D
