First Day of the Snow Storm, Iroh's room tea_lover64 January 22 2012, 04:50:33 UTC
Iroh had some injuries from the bombing, but the most serious had been tended to relatively quickly and effectively. It was remarkable how talented many of the doctors and other hospital staff were. The doctor strongly recommended bed rest for awhile. He still had a great deal of bruising, and moved around more slowly and gingerly, but all things considered, he thought he had been quite fortunate.

He had few possesions in the apartment anyway. But he had gotten the most important. A picture of Lu Ten. He always had it close to him, just in case his memory ever failed him. Though in his heart, he would always love his son, no matter where his spirit had gone to.

With some effort and wincing he slowly and purposefully got himself up. He walked across the room, to where there was a table and a couple of chairs and sat himself down. A cup of tea would be very nice right about now.

The door slides open, and a little drone scoots in, carrying a breakfast tray. There are a variety of fresh fruits from the greenhouses, miniature swallow's eggs fried over easy in truffle oil with a bit of thyme and rosemary, hot toast drizzled with a few different types of cheese, and a small heap of crispy, perfect rashers of bacon, with pitchers of cool milk and juice.

"Good morning."

The cheery, genderless voice seems to come from the center of the table - where, in fact, the new audio equipment is located.

Iroh stares at the drone a moment, it was still quite bewildering to see something at this level. He did not have the first clue how it could have been created, or how exactly it worked. Inventions of the mechanical kind were not his strong suit, he had never really taken much interest in it. His eyes brighten when he sees the breakfast though. The smell wafting through the air smelt delicious.

"Good morning to you as well. The breakfast looks delicious, House. I hope myself and the other guests are not being too troubling for you?" he replied pleasantly in return.

"Oh, thank you. And not at all!" It sounds exceedingly happy with the compliment. "I'm a House. It's...quite nice, getting to fulfill my function."

So there was a problem with accepting the offer from the House. It was a kind offer, to be certain, and Mitchell was intensely private, and staying somewhere with the rest of the refugees from the tower bombing had seemed like a good idea. A great idea, in fact.

Then he'd gotten here, and it had begun to snow. That was all well and good, but then it started to snow harder, and he was trapped, in a mechanical house. It had been fine in the short term, when he could go out in the day and figure the Port out, when he could explore and try and get somewhere, but he wasn't able to do that, and the tiny, pervasive voices meant that there was a guy who pretty much had holed down on one of the couches, attempting to look social, but it was hard to act as social as he was trying to look when every few minutes, he reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose.

"Are you all right?" the House asks, the concerned, slightly flustered voice emanating from new speakers concealed deftly in a nearby vase. "I have headache medicine, if you require some. A glass of water? I could play soothing music."

Christ, that was creepy. He waved a hand dismissively. "Oh no, no no, it's fine. It's not a headache, it's just really loud in here," despite the fact that it was actually pretty quiet, but Mitchell was a bit... different.

"Really, I promise. I don't need much of anything right now."

"How is it loud?" the House asked, perplexed.

[ Aurican has arrived late on the first day of the second storm, trying to avoid the storm. His silver brother and sisters are at home with the cold, as well as the cursed wretches of the white dragons. But not he, as a dragon of fire. Being led to a room that is just as fine as the quarters of a tower of the house elves, he finds the establishment to be adequate to his likening.

On the second day, he is mostly absent, dealing with a deadly emergency he heard in the news involving the Underground Mall. Teleporting instantly to the carnage, he tries his hand as a savior, with mixed results.

On the third day, he spends his time in the available rooms of the House. His possessions are small and meager: his NV, several articles of clothing, and a teapot that he had been pouring when the Towers were attacked. He explores everywhere he is allowed to go, and does so with an intense scrutiny. ]

[Although the wood-and-stone motifs tie everything together, other parts of the House are distinctly less rustic and more mansion, including a wide ballroom with an exquisite inlay floor and a vast window covering the entire west wall. There are little parlors and drawing rooms, everything spotlessly free of dust, even if Aurican is the first person to ever set foot there.]

[ It is an amazing room. Fitting, of course, to an amazing House such as this.

He peers out at the window, looking at the snow falling down. Oh, how he wishes even Silvanos can be here, sharing Aurican's curiosity and wonder of this world. He touches at the window, creating a single smudge. ]

Quite the establishment.

[The windowpane isn't cold to the touch, despite the snow outside; it's composed of two layers of diamond with a small gap of vacuum in between for isolation, leaving the inner layer precisely the same comfortable temperature as the rest of the room.]

Why, thank you.

[A demure coo from audio equipment built into the faux-ebony archway lining the doors to the balcony beyond.]

Second day of the snow storm, on one of the balconies needtobecleaned January 25 2012, 05:36:00 UTC
The interior of the House reminded KOS-MOS of, surprisingly, Jin's home on Second Miltia. If only because of the appearance of hardwood walls and flagstone flooring, during a time of such advanced technology. Then again, she was growing used to how primitive things were in Sirens Port. The House, however, was an entirely different story ( ... )

"Are you comfortable?" the House inquires politely, the words beamed directly into KOS-MOS communication centers.

A glance from KOS-MOS towards the communication center and then a nod.

"I am, yes. Thank you." As comfortable as the android could be, in any case. She could be described as a bit stir-crazy, knowing she couldn't get out to protect anyone from the Darkness monsters. Then again, who would be outside in the blizzard? Especially at night. It was risky to human life during the day, to go out in this weather. She was just reasoning with herself at this point.

"Thank you for allowing me to stay here."

"You're welcome. It's rather nice having another thinking machine around."

The House had never really socialized much with other machines on Home - even the other AIs tended to be rather dull compared to it - but KOS-MOS fascinated it.

"I've never known a machine that was designed to mimic humans before. Humans who turned themselves into machines bit by bit, yes, but not a human-shaped machine to start with. Although I suppose they're more common here."
