It took him exactly 4.15 minutes to reach the door of Matt's apartment. Less than five. It certainly wasn't the best record but it was under his max time limit. Better than nothing at least.

It'd been years. Years since he'd seen Matt, and yet his comrade from Wammy's house insisted they'd seen each other much sooner. If this really wasn't Matt making a fool out of him and there was some messed up spooky sci fi time paradox thing going on...

Well. He'd have to take a moment to think about that.

With the fuzzy, black hood of his jacked pulled snugly over his head, Mello raised a gloved fist to knock on Matt's door. Two firmly placed knocks and he let his arm fall, back straight and hand poised nicely beside the side of his waist, for if on the off chance he needed to pull his gun it'd be there and ready. Hopefully Matt would answer the door quickly. Mello didn't feel too comfortable standing out in the open like this.

Matt paused in his pacing when there were two short knocks on his door, firm and very Mello. He sighed, pushed his hand back through his hair, and crossed to the door, unlocking it and pulling it open, his expression just slightly incredulous when he took in the blond with his hood up like that.

"Come in." he said, jerking his head backward, and closed the door behind Mello when he entered. Matt crossed the room and flopped down on the couch, leaning forward and resting elbows on his knees.

"So, good to see you and all that, but...what date was it when you left?" he asked, bluntly, raising his eyes to look at the blond, "Because this time difference thing is doing my head in."

The first thing Mello noticed that Matt hadn't changed. At all. His stance was still the same. His demeanor was still the same. Same old Matt. It was a small reassurance.

Mello didn't need to be told twice to enter as he sauntered into Matt's apartment, eyes flickering over the state of the interior. He was going to comment on the messy state of things but he was distracted by Matt's question.

"November 10th or 11th, 2009." Mello answered, taking a seat across from the couch, splaying himself over the piece of furniture. "And you?"

November of 2009. So he knew more about what happened afterward than Mello did. He'd expected as much, when Mello claimed to have not seen him in four years - this Mello was from not too long before he'd come to get Matt's help. Matt glanced up, taking in Mello's face - he still had the weird bob, and there were no scars, which just backed up the blond's claim about when he'd come from.

Matt pushed his hand back through his hair, and furrowed his brows slightly, licking his lips and watching Mello sprawl himself out on the chair across from him, "February 26, 2010." he said, shrugging, "And according to the NV and all, it's January 20. So I've technically gone back in time."
