[Franz d'Epinay sits with that same bevy of nearly naked men as his first Midnight Channel. Well, not with them so much as on or around them, as he is apparently using several of the handsome, muscled men as furniture, and animatedly talking to another while rubbing his hands over his chest. He is lisping and noncing about as he was in the last broadcast, too.]

And that’s when he said take it like a man... So I got on my hands and knees!

[The spotlight seeks him out, then, and he flutters his lashes a little.]

Oh, sorry! I didn’t see you there. Run along now, Stefan - I’ll meet you in the men’s room in ten.

[He addresses his audience now, legs crossed. He’s perched primly right on the back of some handsome, willing man.]You really ought to see the party going on out here in the Darkness! I don’t think I’ve had more fun in my life. And to think, I used to be just like all of you ordinary, boring people, living out your lives and dying inside a little more each day ( ... )

[As soon as he sees Franz's imposter make his second appearance, Genesis' jaw immediately tenses. While the first transmission was just playful, this new one was laced with feelings that he couldn't bear to associate with Franz-- mocking the doctor, his boyfriend, that way? Carelessly treating his body? And what were those marks on him?

His hands itch to take Rapier and go out into the darkness to hunt for this shadow. But he knows that Franz has to see to it himself-- that was how they tackled Angeal's shadow.

He will leave Franz a text, then. He isn't sure if the other would accept his help after their conversation the last time the shadow appeared.]

If you wish to face off against this impostor of yours, feel free to ask me to accompany you.

[Franz takes some time to calm himself before attending the text messages that appear on his NV, once it appears that nothing is broadcasting.]

You wouldn't happen to have a sword?

You would be surprised. I can also use magic.

[Rapier was just sitting at a corner of the dressing room, waiting for its owner to take it home and so and so. But tonight, Genesis may give it a greater purpose.]

[The blond woman is standing behind a large desk in front of an old-fashioned chalkboard, and the shadows on the large desk suggest there are smaller desks, as in a school classroom, in front of those. If so, the corset she's wearing would normally be considered inappropriate.]

There are a few lessons we should have out of the way before class starts.

Lesson one. If you're my student, I will do anything it takes to keep you safe. Betray my allies, kill my kin, humble myself to beg to my enemies, endanger myself -- anything necessary ( ... )

[The video comes in a sepia color, mixed with splashes of reds and grays. A young man with long dark hair being held with a ribbon in the back appears on screen. Darwin Alexander Watts, almost as one might see him today, only instead of a leather coat and shorter hair, he looks like he’s stepped out of the early 1900’s. He’s standing to the side of a group of people, silent and waving, scientists it seems. Like a conference ( ... )

[A vast blindingly white room. In the middle there is a chair and in the chair there sits a man. Something about His face is strange- no matter how long you look at it, you can never quite remember the features. Made of light and shadow and then, nothing familiar at all, nothing at all that could ever be any human in the Port- at least, not what you can see from the way He’s looking down, studying the floor.

-camera cut to rain, water, men and women running fleeing for high ground, screaming, children falling in the streets, getting trampled, drowning. water rising up and up carrying sheep and children and filth, rising fasterfasterfaster. a single ark sails by and they scream, reach out, call and beg in vain and hope and pray and choke on water and tears-

The man looks up. His eyes burn like stars.]

I don’t understand what the big problem is. [The Voice sends chills down spines, makes skin crawl. It sounds like lightning and revelation.] You whine and cry about bad things and good people. You want to know how this can happen.

[Chuck's incredibly, disgustingly glad that he went to another room to watch some of these broadcasts- that he didn't have to be sitting next to Castiel while that fucking happened. That he doesn't have to pretend to not be frozen to the couch, shaking with something that could either be horror or rage.

That thing- that. That.]

No. [Softly, almost stunned, to the empty room.] No. No. [That's not Him. Even in the beginning, He loved them. He knows He did... right?

(even now the memories are slow, it's all caught up- judgment and wrath and mercy tangled together until He can't separate the flood from the rainbow, the dozen times He lovingly forgave Israel weighed against the one time He threw a child to damnation.)

No. He loved them. He still loves them, he's positive.]

No. That isn't me. That's never been me.

[He can't go out there. That would just piss It off more ( ... )

[He's shaking. He's unaware of it, at first. But he is. Shaking too badly to get up. There's fear. Oh there is fear. So much fear. He never really understand this 'God and Angels are light and love and goodness.' Light could burn, it destroyed. God - and this, he was certain was God. Not Elaine. No, this was the God he'd heard about in Shul. YWYH. He shook.

There was anger too. Bitterness. Rage. He had felt, for longer than he could name, that God had abandoned them. Him. Aslan had said he wasn't forsaken. He hadn't believed him, oh how he'd wanted to. But he hadn't.

And he knew this wasn't real. He did know that. But. It didn't stop what he felt. So he sat there, and shook.]

[He sees it. Watching the scenes from the past play out once more before his eyes and he almost wants to turn away. Yet he forces himself to watch. A question of "why" burns in his mind but it's not one most humans would ask. Instead it's the question: "Why should they live?" After everything they'd done to each other, to God's planet, to His creatures - Why should their existence continue?

All of those orders that he could be following - should be following. Michael should leave his vessel and burn the city with all of its inhabitants to the ground without another thought like he'd done so many times before but he didn't. Instead he passes through the streets, invisible to the five senses, just watching humanity go about their business. Even thinks about trying to find this being that is and yet isn't his Father but instead...

Ignores Shadow!Him.

Well, it's not so much ignoring Him as it is letting God's will be done just as he said it - let humanity turn on itself and he runs. Okay so it's not the best interpretation ( ... )

[A picture of a long walkway fades in over the static, accompanied by a low, metallic ringing noise. At the bottom of the screen, an almost illegible print reads - DARKNESS-PROOFING YOUThe space out ahead of the camera looks a lot like your average Sector 4 neighborhood, with a single line of houses showing off to the right. It's also a typical Siren's Port night scene, complete with the Darkness' grime and rot, and distant shadows betraying the location of at least some of the monsters roaming the area ( ... )

[The camera hurries to catch up to him. The next time he's shown up-close is as he's approaching the next house in line. Tears streak down both sides of his face. They continue to fall as he steps up to the door. Helpless to do otherwise, he lifts his trusty Keyblade. This time, he has to repeat the unlocking sequence twice to defeat the defenses of a careful house-owner. The flurry of shadows are quicker to make up for it, rushing past with the roiling Darkness. Terra gets away faster, too, though he still catches the three orbs that drift out of the house, to him, to disappear in that same dark fire he called up before.]

I didn't want to be a monster. I never wanted to be one. I was going to be a hero and protect the light. But I wasn't good enough. I tried... I really tried, but I was too dark and I was too weak and everyone could tell. Maybe they could tell all along. What a failure. What a terrible Keybearer, he'll let the worlds down.

[A pause. The next few words have a peculiar emphasis to them.] He'll go astray again ( ... )

[The Midnight Channel is no longer a surprise by Wednesday. The events of the night prior are hard to grasp; They are vague, and hazy. But he gets the gist of it. He understands what Shadows are now, understands why they say the things they do. And most of all, he understands what happens when the things we try to hide tumble out when we're not ready.]

[The things that are in our hearts and minds deserve to stay there. Learning about friends from friends is a privilege. Not something he wants to learn by accident. That's why watching Terra's midnight channel makes his stomach turn. He knows exactly who's to blame for the this. Even now, after he's gone from the port, he's still ruining things.]

[Terra has his friends, his most important people now. They understand him the most, and know the intimate details of what he's been through much better than Sora. But still. He still remembers what it was like when Terra reached out to him.]
