[Bruce's words cut her more than the Shadow's do. He's right, of course, but it's... They're her insecurities. They don't need to be there for everyone to see. Bruce has always understood her well. He always has. But here, now, it's just embarrassing. She feels like such a failure in his eyes.

Her lower lip trembles until she bites it, her hands clenched at her sides.]

[She stares at her Shadow.]

I'm not afraid because I know you're not me. We had this discussion before, Real. [That clone.] You're Monad, and that's not me. I was never her! I can't be her. I could never be her! And that's... That's why I can't be you either.

[For a moment, the Shadow looks offended. And then she smiles and starts to laugh, a dark energy pulsing around her body. The sound becomes more grotesque and she seems to get disgustingly thin, her body turning grey, dark, and her hair getting longer and lighter. Scars adorn her body - all of Re-l's from her torture and poisoning, and patches appear where Monad herself was wounded and ( ... )

[ Well, now she knows how it's possible that Bruce Wayne talks to people while Batman is out in the Darkness, punching out people. (And also why he always uses voice.) ]
