[It is when Raul starts on his usual rounds when Francis arrives at work, thirty minutes earlier than any of the kitchen staff, as was typical for the chef. Bundled up in a long winter coat as well as a matching scarf and hat, as well as sleek leather gloves and boots, as well as a sweater underneath all of that, he is thankful to be in the heat of the employee break room, at least compared to outside - at least, that was what his mild French swears would indicate. The kitchen is still cold, because when he stepped in from the back door all of the heat had escaped to the outside. And, well, tile and stainless steel are very good at cooling down quickly as well as heating up quickly ( ... )

Mm, right now, it is the salmon, and I think we were down to our last bag of flour... mais, it will not be an issue until tomorrow, unless eveyone orders the salmon. Which I doubt.

I doubt everyone will be ordering the salmon, as fine a dish as that is. [Smirks.] Perhaps you should offer something better on the menu for tonight.

You of all people know that my dishes are as divine as one can find, without going into heaven to find them, of course. [He puffs out his chest a little, even, proud of his creations.] If they cannot find one, well, all the others are equally as wonderful. At least, that is what our patrons have been telling the waiters.

I have noticed that our restaurant revenues have increased, ever since you started cooking here. [Chuckles.] I am very glad to have hired you.

I am proud to be making you much more money. It means I am doing something right, non?

[He lets off a smile, as he admits:] I am too. Very much so.

Yes, that it does. [Chuckles.]

Mm. I should, perhaps, leave you be. I wouldn't want to get in your way.
