[Awkward. That was the best way to describe the evening. No, probably not. The most awkward event of all awkward events that would transcend time, space, the universe, history and all that ever has and would come to fruition. That was closer, but still no cigar. It was like going to a tea party, wearing the bottom pants to a gorilla costume, only to find that your host was Lucifer using Carol Channing as a vessel. That was about right. Adam had spent most of the meal quiet, silently poking at his food and eating, while trying to figure out when and how it would be a good time to bring up the elephant in the room ( ... )

[To say that Castiel found this entire event awkward was an understatement. He spent the whole meal poking curiously at food, glaring whenever John said or did something remotely critical, cast a lot of sideways glances at Sam of 'what am I doing here?', stared at Dean, and generally not knowing what to do with himself.

It was a little relief when it was over, though now he doesn't know what he's supposed to do at all. He glanced almost longingly after Sam and and Dean as they left; if it had been at home, he would've just followed them without asking, but things are different here. Now he's left alone with John Winchester, a Bobby who barely knows who he is, Mary who at least isn't that difficult to deal with, ann Adam Milligan. Of all people.

So he's silent, in the corner, just watching everyone and glancing up at Mary when she mentions dessert, then at Adam when he comments, but doesn't speak.]

[ Yeah, Bobby kind of figured this would be a memorable day for all the dumbest reasons. It had derailed a bit from his initial plans for the holiday, which included more along the lines of checking on the status of the boys and Mary and not quite so much... traditional Thanksgiving. But what were you gonna do ( ... )

[Hell. That was the only word to describe this entire day. It was like all of his past sins were stripped and laid bare, then forced to sit down to a turkey dinner. At this point, he's surprised Bill and Ellen haven't burst in carrying some sort of casserole, apologizing for being late. Truth be told, this whole night is just fueling his theory that he really is in Hell.

This is nowhere close to how he would have wanted to bring his entire family together for the first time. For one, they'd be alone, no Bobby, no goddamn creepy judgmental angels. Just the five of them privately working through the awkwardness, because dammit, it's no one's business but their own. But when Mary came to him with the idea of a ~real Thanksgiving~, how could he say no? She seemed so excited about it. Who knew, maybe it wouldn't be so bad ( ... )
