[After a zombie waitress has just retrieved the empty glass in front of her, Elaine adjusts her silk cape, shifting on her seat slightly.]

Do you think the cloak was a little... over the top?

[She asks, jokingly, to Morpheus and whoever has decided to join them. From his family or hers.]

Well, good. I usually prefer something simpler.

[She leaves her uncle Lucifer to be the sharp dresser.

And thinking about him makes her miss his absence so much more.]

I'm going to mingle soon.

[She gives Morpheus a look 'You should too'. It seems pointless to tell Destiny try to be social. She already dragged him to the party with a costume. That was a small miracle.]

[Destiny inclines his head. Simple was always best, but he understood his brother's flair for the dramatic. It was to be expected from the Dream King. He turns his attention to the people merrily socializing and going about their party-going business, the horrors from last week driven to the back of their minds.

He says nothing, but there was an air of approval, that she had done what she had to do. It was not as direct an approach as she may have liked, but it was a set in the right direction. It was helping them in a way.]

[She seems pleased with that effect. Parties keep people busy -- Or drunk. It makes them forget for a while they are living with the Darkness to worry about looking too fat with the dress or the kind of shoes they will wear for it.

Elaine still doesn't feel comfortable with her inaction. She will never be. Unlike Yahweh, she's more attached. She's more merciful.]

Are you seriously going to dance with the book?

[He did not foresee this... Destiny collects his thoughts, adjusting to the unexpected and regarding her hand with mild curiosity.]

I have never been asked to dance before.

[She drinks on her surprise, not out of malice or gloating, like Lucifer would have, but because she thinks that he looked adorable. Like those old men when they try to use the mouse and the keyboard for first time.]

You haven't been in that many parties before.

[Dream almost cracks a smile at Elaine's insistence that his eldest brother dance with her. Almost, except he has a sneaking suspicion that if he peered over Destiny's shoulder, he would see it written that he would be her next...victim.]

Well, go on, brother. [is that teasing in his voice?] We mustn't offend our hostess.

[Morpheus shouldn't have spoken, because she's turning towards him.]

You should dance too and meet new people -- Your sister would have liked you to.

[He sighs contentedly.] Looks like you nearly blew the roof offa this place too. This beats the last fancy shindig I went to. [You know, the one where he ended up getting kidnapped by Mew and ended up stuck with Pikachu in a beautiful wonderland of fantasy and joy that quickly turned horrible.

[ Elaine says, lowering a tray of food for him. ]

Are you used to attend to parties like this?

Let's just say me and my pals had ways of gettin' into nice places like this whenever it suited us to. [And ways of getting thrown out too.]

Well, it's too bad your friends aren't here. Or I would have invited them too.
