Ryuuken had already seen nearly a dozen patients. He had already filled out the corresponding paperwork and had made a good start on his dictations--he liked to do them in batches instead of all at once. Now, during his lunch hour, he found himself in an unusually good mood. He ordinarily ate alone, using the time to do extra work or help other doctors with their paperwork. But today was different. Today, he felt like eating with someone. Not just anyone, but with Isshin.

He picked up the bag that contained his lunch--a salad and turkey sandwich--and headed for the door. Except before he got there, he sensed Uryuu's reiatsu approaching.

Ryuuken returned to his desk and sat down. This was...unexpected. But then, this was characteristic of Uryuu.

"Yes, come in," Ryuuken said, and dropped the bag on his desk.

Uryuu did just that, pushing up his glasses and walking just far enough into the room that he could close the door behind him. "Ryuuken." Just that for a greeting - no smile, no wave of his hand. The younger Quiucy looked almost like he was being forced to wait in line at the DMV.

It was just as tedious a task, by Uryuu's standards. He let his eyes wander, taking in what his father had done - or hadn't - with his office. "I've come in to request a small physical examination. Are you in the middle of something?"

Ryuuken leaned back in his chair and considered his son, allowing a moment of silence before he returned the greeting. "Uryuu."

At Uryuu's request, one slender eyebrow rose. "What seems to be the problem?" Ryuuken disregarded Uryuu's other question as it was obvious and unimportant to him. He was a little worried, but did not show it.

"Nothing that I'm aware of," he said swiftly, unconcerned. "It would be a preliminary check. The idea was raised that my lack of memory could be the result of a physical factor. While I don't agree, it would still be prudent to have this tested."

Bare wells, a neat, impersonal workspace. Yes, this was certainly his father's office. Snorting softly, he let his gaze fall upon the older Quincy once more.
