[The darkness is full of monsters, but a simple shield charm and a few blasts of fire take care of anything rushing forward.

Normally Merlin wouldn't come out here, not at night, but sometimes it's difficult being with Arthur all the time. Briefly he considered visiting Kurt-- but no. Rather than confine himself in yet another building, Merlin visits the shore. It's not nearly as beautiful Albion, but it's close.

He had been sitting there for at least an hour before he noticed the familiar swooping. Bolting upright, he wanders to the edge of the shore, yelling loudly and excitedly, waving his arms.]

[ It doesn't take more than a second for her keen ears to pick up on the sounds of a voice, even over the surf. Her first instinct is to hide-- a darkness spell, a fog spell, a teleport, even a shapechange into a seal or a seabird-- but... there's something a little odd about that human.

If this were one of those SERO agents, or a bounty hunter, or something, the approach would be stealthy. If this were a normal person, there would be escape in place of approach. This is... excited. And again, Khisanth has to wonder just what's wrong with some humans. That's not the appropriate reaction to seeing a dragon.

She swoops in close, wings flaring at the last second to brake and light onto the sand. There she watches him, orange eyes just a touch baleful and a lot suspicious. ]

Did you need something, human?

Need? No!

[And she-- she?-- talks. Lovely; this isn't like the stupid Wyverns, who just growl and attack; this is actually an intelligent creature. Tentatively Merlin approaches, one hand held out in a gesture of peace.]

No. I just didn't know there were any dragons on the island. I didn't know there were any other dragons than the one I've met. He always claimed he was the last of his kind.

[ Oh, great. This is one of those humans that thinks he knows dragons. That meeting a peaceable dragon in his world means she'll be the same. She snorts derisively, obviously ignoring that sign-of-peace hand. ]

Then you obviously don't follow the news reports here very closely.

[ Bitter? Irritated? Just a little. ]

And in any case, you should know better. You're on an island that steals from all kinds of worlds. Don't be so egotistical as to think yours is the only one with dragons. [ er. a dragon, at least. and here's a brief thought devoted to that one movie with the thickly-accented dragon, who'd also been the last of his kind -- naw, can't be related. ]
