When Joe asked him to tag along to lunch, Duo was, frankly, surprised. Things had been so quiet in Duo's neck of the woods lately that he'd begun to wonder just what had happened to the few friends he'd managed to make in Siren's Port. He was actually about to start asking after them when Joe contacted him first. Again, surprising, but a pleasant surprise none the less. And considering there was food involved he was all the more happier to come along, wearing his usual grin.

"Daaaaamn this looks good!" Duo chirped happily, ready to dig in.

Joe had Maya at "lunch". Well, Joe had Maya at "Joe", but lunch did help tip the scales in his favour. (Although, she hadn't seen him around in a while.... But he seemed alright, so she had nothing to worry about, right?)

So here she was. Duo wasn't someone she knew but he seemed nice enough, he was a friend of Joe's, and clearly she had good taste, so...

She introduced herself politely enough (but the food was the priority here!) and promptly went to work on her plate.

"Hah! I feel like I could eat for a week!" He laughs in agreement- though that's half-true, he does need to make up for the days of being sustained by DG cells alone.

Real food- delicious, steam-tray hot, soy-salty, greasy chinese buffet sounds fantastic right about now.

For a few moments there was only the contented slurping, chewing, gulping. He feels happy, safe again, in control of himself, and surrounded by pals.

"The ribs are good!" He grins, hands already messy- he'd had his doubts, after all, they'd looked a little tough under the heated lamps.

"Hell yes they are!" Duo agreed, chewing vigorously on his own set of ribs. This was great. As much as he missed his friends back home, dropping everything and getting together with them just never happened. He was really enjoying himself, even if at the moment all they were doing was filling their stomachs.

"Chinese" wasn't exactly something they had going on on Auldrant, and so naturally under normal circumstances, he probably would have avoided the place entirely. Unfortunately, these were not normal circumstances for Asch. It was his first afternoon off since the DG virus had abruptly ended, an Liquid decided to treat him to that promised meal.

Of course, "treat him" meant dragging him here and then leaving him confused by all the food at the buffet... not to mention with the bill.

Stupid paranoid soldiers. He'd never say it enough.

And so, that was what led to Asch the Bloody grumbling and poking around a Chinese buffet table in the afternoon, throwing anything on his plate that looked remotely edible and not really watching where he was going.

"Hey." An arm reaches out before that last deep-fried crab ragoon is scooped off the hot tray, and there's a silver-haired boy stilling the tongs in place. "Buddy. Why don't you leave some for the girls?"

(... never mind that 'the girls', AKA: Maya Fey, the happy medium on his right is pretty much demolishing the fried rice, and will be back for more rounds.)

"Hn...?"

Asch snapped out of his irritation to look up at the white haired boy, before glancing down at his... rather stuffed plate. Oops. He let out muttered, "Sorry," trying to save what little dignity he still had at the moment...

...well, until he saw Maya stuffing her face.

"...don't you mean she should be saving some for the rest of us?" he muttered, making a face.

Maya heard that comment, but it had been a while since she'd last seen Asch, so she decided to let it go for now. This time. Maybe.

"I'm just keeping up my strength in case bad guys attack!" She said through a mouthful (Actually, this was probably the first time in the past few days or so she'd actually felt like eating, so she took the opportunity (plus, this stuff was good)

After another swallow, she waved at Asch. "Hey, it's a been a while."
