Orochimaru made every effort to familiarize himself with the city and its residents. It was as much for tactics as it was for research. He had witnessed many new abilities during his surveillance, and had picked out several individuals to become his new subordinates.

Orochimaru strolled through the underground mall for the first time, taking in the sights. He was dressed in some sort of grayish suit, copied to match the face he was wearing--that of a businessman in his early twenties.

He was just about to leave when he sensed a faint, but familiar, chakra. Orochimaru followed it to it's source and found Itachi behind the bar in--Orochimaru's eyes flicked up to read the sign--The Major's Club. His expression carefully benign, Orochimaru went inside and sat down at the bar.

Itachi couldn't sense Orochimaru's chakra, and he was too busy to really take a good hard look at the newcomer. He put down a glass he'd been hastily wiping and moved towards Orochimaru, leaning a hand on the bar and bending a little closer so the man could give his order without having to yell over the general hubbub.

"What can I get for you, sir?" he asked, his polite voice carrying to Orochimaru's ears easily.

Orochimaru stared into his eyes. Ah, those eyes. How he wanted--needed--them. He briefly considered trying for it again. If he could accomplish the transfer before Itachi activated his Sharingan... But no, no. It was too risky. A single error and he might end up like before.

Orochimaru fought down his ire and smiled at Itachi.

"I'll have a Gin and Tonic, please," he said, keeping with his youthful mien.

There was something wrong with the way that man looked at him. Itachi's smile was feigned, and barely visible, and he inclined his head.

"Of course, sir," he said, and turned away to get the gin from a shelf behind him. When he turned back, his eyes had warmed to crimson, and he studied the other man from beneath dark lashes as he poured and mixed the drink.

"I haven't seen you around before?" Itachi murmured as he handed the man his drink. "Do you normally go elsewhere, or are you new in town?"
