[He's made himself scarce since accepting Yosuke's death. He doesn't particularly want to see anyone, which is selfish of him because he should be there for the others, but it's so difficult to care when his best friend is gone. Gone for the third time.
Itachi summoning him, though, is something he can't ignore even if he wants to hide himself away.
Shikamaru's there in less than ten minutes, moving quickly until he reaches the front door. Then he's slow to turn the knob, slow to step inside. And when he's there, he doesn't speak a greeting.]
Uryuu wanted to give Shikamaru room to mourn after Yosuke passed; grief was a private matter, and he would not become a hypocrite by intruding upon Shikamaru's.
...But he has been keeping track of him, however far away he physically remained. As he had for Kurosaki and Inoue and Sado in Karakura, Uryuu watched for changes in Shikamaru's reiatsu. He wouldn't let the ninja face another attack alone. Not again.
It's the urgency that grabs his attention today. Uryuu is already out in the city, stepping out of a subway car when he feels the ninja's reiatsu spike. There's no panic or danger, not that he can sense, but it is - noticeable. After a short debate, the Quincy decides that's all he needs. He's already out and the signal is clear - what reasons does he have not to investigate? It doesn't have to mean interference; he just wants to know.
Two sectors away, Uryuu vanishes from the exiting subway crowd and hones in on the trail.]
[ He leans against the door-frame. Arms crossed against his chest and head lowered - if it was not for the disappointment that etched his features, one could mistake him from simply dozing off. When Shikamaru enters, his chest heaves with a exhale, pushing himself from the wall.
There is hardly any acknowledgment of his student as he turns to face him. ]
...Will you do anything concerning Hanamura's disappearance?
[ Itachi himself hadn't had the time to search for Shikamaru's companion, but it did not mean that he cared less than those that were brought from NeoGenesis.
Then, something coaxes his interest. His eyes glance at the door once again before redirecting his vision to Shikamaru. ] Did you bring someone with you?
[ There was a slight bit of firmness in his tone; he had formerly not objected to Edgeworth picking Shikamaru up, yet there was still uneasiness in the way Itachi's limbs tensed up. Fingers dipping into cloth to withdraw a kunai. ]
[He senses that other presence at the same moment Itachi does. Chakra sensing isn't a specialty of his but the energy is familiar enough to Shikamaru to make its appearance obvious. Shikamaru holds up a hand as he turns around, looking back out the open door. He takes a step toward Itachi.]
I didn't bring anyone, but I think I know who it is. I'm sorry for the intrusion, Itachi-sama. I didn't realize he was following me.
