Well, East coast girls are hip, I really dig those styles they wear

Who: Sirius Black, Jack Kelly
When: August 31st!
Where: The beach!
Summary: Jack can't swim and this, clearly, is a horrifying fact. Only one person can rectify this! (Haha, just kidding, Jack's probably going to drown).

I wish they all could be California girls (by which I mean Canada, by which I mean Siren's Port, by which I mean god there aren't enough girls on this island). )

[Sirius has a poor attention span, but there are some things that render him capable of duel focuses. Really exciting bikinis can be watched out of one eye, and really exciting water can be watched out of the other eye. He spares a moment to glance over at said bikinis more fully, just to take the time to appreciate them. It's a pity that the girls are walking in the other direction--just a glance and they could have been over here, with them.

But--focus, focus, he's not here for girls, he's here for Jack Kelly, to teach him to swim. He shifts his glance to his best mate instead, giving him a grin.]

You git. As if I'd lie to you. If you get over here and give swimming a go, perhaps they'll come over, and you can get a closer look at 'em.

[He's already standing in the water, of course, far to eager to stand outside of it for long.]

[As long as Sirius' eyes aren't on him, Jack allows himself to eye the water apprehensively for a moment. The waves are fairly gentle, but they're still waves, it's still a large body of water capable of drowning him (and the thought that he can survive is no comfort, as-- live or die-- he'd still be stuck out in the water, unable to stay afloat for long).

But no use in getting too worked up. Besides, it's painfully hot, a bit of water will feel lovely. So Jack stands up, following.

He gets up to his knees before stopping. He stands rather close to Sirius, but his expression isn't so much apprehensive as defiant.]

[There's no better way to deal with this than not taking it seriously: not taking Jack's expression seriously, not taking his apprehension seriously, not taking anything seriously. He shifts his weight onto one foot so he can lean against Jack's shoulder with a grin.]

I could chuck you in.

Do it and I'll drown you.

[He scowls, but leans back against him. After a moment he bends forward a bit, trailing his fingers in the cool water.]

Means more girls for me, anyway.

You couldn't drown me, as you can't swim.

[He leans away from Jack, dropping to his knees. The water is perfect--just the right amount of cold to combat the heat of the day, with just the right amount of warmth at the immediate surface to keep it from being uncomfortable. It laps against his chest, which makes him shiver, but he twists around in the water, careful to keep from showing that.]

Girls like guys that can swim, y'know. C'mere, kneel down, would you, you're giving me a crick and the sun's in my eyes and just kneel down, all right, that's how this starts.
