Sorry! Ikasucon ate my attention last weekend. ♥ getslost July 11 2011, 18:23:41 UTC
[Zoro's reason for being out in the darkness wasn't anything as important as fetching groceries, or even losing track of the time. Time, itself, wasn't something he often gave much consideration. How the day flowed depended, generally, on how filled or how empty it was, who he saw or who he was forced to spend time with. Especially on this island, it didn't seem like time mattered unless it came to work, which, coincidentally, is the very reason for Zoro wandering the streets this evening. He had begun to wonder if someone thought it would be funny to prank him by switching the street signs up around the flower shop--if they did and he found the culprit, he would make them pay for that--because it was hours since he left Siren's Flowers and he still wasn't back at Brooke's ( ... )

[Vivi is panicking to say the least. She's more than panicking. Everything she faced in the past had either been human or smaller. This is neither. This is bigger than anything the had ever faced and about a million times more frightening. Something about it made the air thick and difficult to breathe. It feels like something's pressing against her chest. She tries to fill her lungs to calm her pounding heart but the air catches in her throat and chills her through.

Trying to ignore it she grips her hands into fists and clumsily pulls a sword from her bag. Okay, what had Kurogane taught her? Feet a little apart, shoulders down, arms up? Or was it the other way around? She tries to push it out of her mind. Her hands shake on the hilt. Why had she left her bag of sand back at the apartment? Why today of all days??

The monster suddenly roars and swings its giant tail, whipping the tentacles at her. She manages to block one that flies towards her head, although it knocks her several inches backwards.]

[Vivi had been fighting this thing, she was fighting it now. It only takes a moment for Zoro to snap back to focus and in that split-second, he has pulled Wadou free from its white sheath and dashed forward to intercept another strike before it can land on his crewmate. Vivi had been holding her own but was clearly, even at first glance, outmatched. It was good he happened by when he did ( ... )

[She shoots him a grateful look when he flies in from the shadows. She manages to block another swooping swing from a tentacle. The next swing however knocks her back, nearly off her feet.

Luck decides to smile on her again as Zoro knocks the monster off balance. She takes the opportunity to run to him and retort indignantly.]

What does it look like I'm doing?! Playing in a park?

[Zoro gapes as he's scolded, scowling right back. He opens his mouth to shout again but by then the monster has recovered and makes to pounce. Zoro's response is to sheath Wadou and punch Ugly in the head, knocking it into the building beside the street where it gives an unhappy flail that flings crumbled bricks around. He didn't need a sword to hurt monsters (defeating some may be another story) and he'd rather not risk another blade until he needed to. His head snaps to the side to stare at Vivi, finally seeming to notice exactly how she was fighting.]

You have a sword.

[Poor Ugly, he just has no luck today. Vivi stares at the building that Zoro just punched a monster through. Hopefully it was already abandoned. She glances down at the sword in her hands, as if she had momentarily forgotten about it.]

Oh, yeah. Kurogane was teaching me, reluctantly, before he left. Why did you put your sword away?
