Who: Helen Magnus & OPEN When: July 5, morning Where: Starting in the baseball diamond and moving out Summary: Helen arrives, albeit confused, and is on a mission. Warnings: British swearing?
Morning, and he was more stumbling down the streets with toast in his mouth trying to resist the urge to yawn. Too early. He was still too used to school schedule, which started later and he could sleep in since first period had been study hall. Even when he had lessons in the morning before classes, it hadn't felt too early.
Maybe it was because it was summer and everyone else was sleeping in, though? As great as the summer job was advertised (and it was easy enough), Hope hated early mornings.
He turned his head at the shouting, though. It wasn't uncommon, but it still drew his attention nevertheless. Adam? Nope, he didn't know anyone by that name.
Helen was on edge, with her gun now drawn and an even more urgent intent to find him. Bloody hell, how could he have gotten anywhere so quickly? The option quickly went through her mind that he hadn't even exited here - an option that she wasn't entertaining lightly.
"Damnit." She made her way around the baseball field, avoiding anyone there or who attempted to approach - she needed to find him rather than become stopped - and quickly exited into the next street. Wherever they were was large and it would not be easy to locate Adam, but that was far from enough to deter her.
Walking she called one last time, as hopeless as the other calls had been. "Adam? This will not solve anything."
He had stopped paying attention for a little while until he saw the speaker again, this time out of the baseball field and... with a gun.
The shouting may not have been unusual, especially here and especially around the baseball field, but the gun was. And it certainly made him freeze, even though he was still a bit away and behind her. Eyes wide, he reached up to pull the toast away, unsure of what he was supposed to do.
Not reacting was an option, of course, but he didn't want to be that type of person who could stand around while he could do something. Nor was he the type to run away from a weapon (what a load of bull. He had always run away from weapons before, especially when they were being offered to him), not when he couldA glance to the side was enough to see the people on the field hesitating as well, although they were a lot seeing the time of day. Luckily, it seemed as if it was before the morning rush and the streets were filled with very few people either checking their phones or with headphones on, all quite content

Cordelia had been out and about, catching up on a few of her errands. Considering she worked most evenings (and when she wasn't, she was often out trying to help with the Darkness monsters and whatever else she could) the daytime was when she got most of her odds and ends down.
Random shouting wasn't something unusual in a place like the Port, but the content caught her ear a little. The confusion sounded familiar, something you often heard in new arrivals.
She turned, looking over to the woman with the gun. "I'm going to take a wild guess and say you're new here. Also going to put this out here: the Adam you're looking for? Probably not here."
That gun that she has? It's now unfortunately pointed at Cordelia now that she has her attention. She's on edge which makes for her distrust, though coming out with particularly certain statements doesn't help ease her.
"You seem rather certain about that." About both points, to be specific. It may have been easy to notice her arrival - it wasn't exactly normal by any standards - though as for being new here? She wasn't quite certain where here was to answer that. As for Adam she hoped that he was here.
If the gun made Cordelia nervous? She was doing a really good job at hiding it. She couldn't say that's happened to her much before but threats on her life in general? Had been pretty common in Sunnydale and Los Angeles so at some point she just got used to them.
"That's because I am certain," She said in a matter of fact sort of voice. "Being here for six months or so makes you learn the drill with new arrivals, even when they're hostile at first.
"Hostile?" Oh, she should have expected that from him - particularly when this wasn't his intended destination.
"Perhaps you can help me instead, then." Helen needed a start, something that she could use to her advantage. And, in a gesture of hopefully good faith and trust, she lowered her gun, but still kept it close. "Where are we?"
New meat was rather easy to recognize and it wasn't surprising to find one in the vicinity of the diamond. Harry, being Harry, could never resist a damsel in distress. Even if the current damsel wasn't exactly in distress and more 'in confusion', but he was compelled all the same.
"Sorry, but it's not a trick. You've been summoned here by the great Core," he said, raising his arms wide, wizard staff in one hand. Maybe not the most reassuring welcome she could get, a nearly 7 foot tall wizard sounding like a B-movie cult outcast, but you had to get your kicks where you could.
"You'll forgive me if I don't believe you." She turned, gun raised and pointed towards him. She was weary, and in no mood for jokes, games or lacking explanations. "Particularly when there's a lack of introduction."
Harry eyed the gun, but he wasn't particularly worried about it, mostly because she hadn't shot him yet, which meant she probably wasn't going to. He knew he wasn't a danger so he could probably convince her of the same.
"Sorry, my name is Harry Dresden," he said, keeping his hands raised to where she could see them. "I was brought here by the Core, just like you. If you'll lower the gun, I can give a better explanation than that and take you to the Towers, where they have free housing. Alternately, I know a great place for coffee and a sandwich if food is your first priority."
Oh, that was a bad assumption. Just because she hadn't shot you didn't mean that she wouldn't - she preferred to assess the situation first and decide for herself if something was a thread before taking action, and she couldn't very well get answers if she shot him first.
"I'd prefer to hear more first." Her hand didn't move, keeping her aim steady. His explanation didn't fly - she hadn't been brought here by anything other than Adam, and his explanation wasn't much of that either.

"Can I help you?" And if so she hoped that it would be quickly before Adam was able to move any further.
