Shoshanna ran a hand through her hair; the breeze had picked up and it was fast becoming a tangled mess. Glancing over Snow's shoulder at the newspaper, she made a little noise of agreement.

"Mm. It seems there aren't any that could be considered mid-range." The ones they had looked at that were affordable had nearly all been dismal, and all the nice ones were more than even the two of them combined could afford. Adjusting her bag further up her shoulder, Shoshanna reached out a hand to point at another listing.

"I think this one is quite nearby." She was starting to get the hang of Siren's Port; after the dismally-planned avenues of Paris, it was quite easy once she learned her way around. She gave the other girl a brief smile, trying not to be so intimidating and grim all the time.

"It might be worth a try, at least."

Snow leaned back in her chair, looking at the both of them with a critical eye. She set her cup down on the table, a fingernail going around the rim for a moment while she thought.

"The last one was in a nice place. But the one we saw before, that fourth one, was also in a good location, so really, it can go either way in that regard. That one also had more windows, which was nice, but may cost more when it comes to Darkness proofing, though the view could be worth it. I prefer looking out onto the street then into an alleyway," She paused, picking up her cup to sip and then setting it back down.

"It also had more room. Two bedrooms, and a spot that they call a den, but could easily be converted to a third open bedroom if need be. If I have to go with my gut, I'll pick the one we saw before, the fourth one."

Snow's argument made sense to Shoshanna, and she had to agree that the better view was worth the extra Darkness-proofing. While she listened, she dragged a stir-stick mindlessly through her coffee, making patterns in the foam that dissipated as soon as they were formed. Finally, after a long silence, she nodded.

"I think you're right. We don't have the time to be as selective as I should like, but I think that's the best one we will find." And when it came down to it, she couldn't afford to be choosy when she would otherwise be kicked out with nowhere to go.

"It's one of the better ones we'll probably find, right now especially," Snow sighed, moving the paper away as she drank some more of her coffee. "The policy of kicking people out in a month must be fine for turnover, but there's the issue of finding a place a few days before you get the boot."

"Mm." Shoshanna was glad to be done with the discussion, since she did hate going around in circles on things. It was good that the two of them were being so direct about this.

"At least I have a little more head-start than you do," she added. She'd arrived after Snow did, so she had more time than just a few days. Still, she wouldn't be sad to move out of the Tower; it wasn't exactly prime real estate.

"You do. I'm working as hard as I can, and I have enough money, but... might be sleeping on a mattress on the floor for a little bit. Just until we have time to find some cheap furniture," Snow said, swirling her coffee in her cup with a small smile.

She pursed her lips. "Hopefully not for long, though truth be told I've slept in worse places." Rooftops, for example, and forests. Or try underneath floorboards for over a year.

She swirled her cup contemplatively before draining its contents. She'd always been a quick eater, something which was inevitable when you were poor and hungry. "That's decided, then. Shall we call the landlord up and tell them we want the apartment?"

"Well, I don't tend to go out of New York, so I'll take your word on it," Snow said, finishing her coffee. She knew what it was like to sleep on worse places as well, but. This would be hard, to live with someone you had so much in common with, but couldn't tell them.

Snow was used to living alone. She would still be alone, if she had her way about it. She nodded.

"Yes, I think we should."

Shoshanna smiled briefly, thinking that Snow couldn't possibly understand-though of course she had no way of knowing that. She pulled out her NV, the gold compact inlaid with mother-of-pearl scrollwork, and peered over at the set-aside newspaper ad for the contact number. She dialed, then held the opened device to her ear like one might a telephone.

When the landlord answered, Shoshanna identified herself and expressed an interest in the flat they had looked at. "Yes, we'll take it," she confirmed with another smile in Snow's direction.

She grinned in response, leaning back in her chair, very satisfied with this decision. Now to get Bigby to help them do some heavy lifting, and they would be all set.

Once the conversation was over and everything was squared away, Shoshanna set her NV back down on the table and gave Snow a satisfied nod. "He asked if we could drop by in a few hours to sign the lease. Fine by me; I'd like to move in as soon as possible."

With a contented sigh, Shoshanna leaned forward with her chin in her palm. "I think I am finally beginning to feel better about this place."

"That sounds great, then," Snow said with a small smile. She leaned back in her chair with a nod.

"I think I am too. I have a job, someplace new to live, and really, this... it's nice to have friends outside of work," She said.

Shoshanna laughed, looking a little embarrassed. "It's nice to have friends at all," she admitted.

She was never the most social person in the world, always preferring to keep to herself, but she had to admit it was harder in a new city where she had absolutely nobody else. It was wiser to make friends, or at least one or two.

Snow laughed softly, nodding. "I know what you mean. I had more...business acquaintances then friends, back home. There just never seemed to be time for them."

Fiddling with the cover of her compact, Shoshanna made a small, thoughtful sound. "I suppose I could say the same, though I admit my 'business acquaintances' were less than friendly."

Namely, they were Nazis who frequented her cinema.

"No? You didn't have any coworkers or anything that you were friendly with?" Asks curiously; she had the people she worked with, like Boy Blue, and Bigby, and that seemed to be enough.
