[Xion steps out from the Dark Corridor she's summoned and is immediately struck by the cloying weight of Darkness around her. She's nervous, but she swallows the twinge of fear down long enough to take a few purposeful steps out into the empty space.

Empty. Too empty.

She knows he's here. And she knows he knows where Roxas and Sora are and she knows it's stupid for her to be here alone but she can't let anyone else get hurt. She can't be useless and weak.

She has to get Roxas back. She has to. She can't bear not knowing if he's alright. Not again.]

Where are you?

[He's fast, faster than she thought he would be.

She has a split second to react and she brings her Keyblade up to block.]

[if Xion wants to keep her head attached to her body, she's going to have to keep up the speed-- Vanitas swings again, and again, with as blinding speed as he's capable of in an attempt to get any hit at all in.]

[Xion is forced backwards, losing ground as she frantically tries to block, but then as he swings again, she times it just right to roll out of the way, and summon up a Blizzard spell, which she fires straight at him.]

[the shards of ice connect, hitting him square in the chest, but it's impossible to tell if he even flinched-- it certainly doesn't stop Vanitas; he immediately raises Void Gear above his head and retaliates with a spell of his own: dark bolts of lightning that rain down on the immediate area like a hailstorm.]

[The black bolts rain down and Xion tries her best to dodge them, but they're fast. She ducks, dives, weaves through them but mistimes herself, gets clipped on her shoulder.

She yelps, sucking her breath in through her teeth and gripping the spot where it hit her. It feels numb.

Of course the Darkness adds extra clout to his attacks, she's seen what it did to Joe's fire spell.

She won't be so careless next time.]

[was that a hesitation, Xion? hope it wasn't, because if Vanitas sees even the briefest of pauses, he's going to strike her down in a quick succession of strikes.]

[hesitation or not, that's what he intends to do anyway, dashing forward again with Void Gear raised, tilted to swipe harshly at her.]

[He's coming closer, closer... and Xion knows, and she waits, waits for him to run at her and get closer, just a little bit closer...

It's the same as with battling the Heartless, she tells herself. Watch, and attack when the time is right. And she's waiting for that right moment to strike.

When that moment comes, she unleashes her own lightning in the form of a Thundara spell.]

[it's enough to get a pained yelp out of Vanitas-- enough to make him take a step back as if he'd just been snapped at by an animal-- though the hit doesn't dig into his flesh; it simply makes him angry.]

[Floods, Bruisers, other Unversed spring from his shadow, his silhouette. they lumber toward Xion, claws raised; they'll attack to damage, but if they happen to catch Xion in their grip they'll hold her down. Vanitas won't be far behind.]

[Her shoulder still stings from the earlier blow Vanitas landed with his lightning, but he's not giving her a window of opportunity to cast a Cure spell. The added jeopardy of the Unversed doesn't help give her breathing space either.

First thing's first; she takes a step back, Keyblade poised, and swings for the nearest Unversed. One, two- she knocks the Bruiser back and immediately has to take an assault from a Flood.]

Hah!

[and almost like the same bolts of lightning Vanitas threw at her earlier, he's darted to her left to throw Xion off- not even give her a chance to blink or draw in a breath. whatever the Unversed can't reach or wherever it doesn't swing at, he will aim directly for it.]

[no going easy on you, Xion. Ventus is likely already on his way-- and Vanitas intends to kill Xion, whether his light half is here or not.]

[He blindsides her; Xion was so focused on the Unversed that she forgot Vanitas for a split second, so when the Keyblade comes crashing against her ribs she's completely unguarded and cries out, staggering back and trying to regain her ground, twisting, even though it hurts, and trying to block.

She needs to get away; there's too many and they're too close.]

[for every block she attempts, Vanitas has another two attacks ready to break past her defenses-- and, if and once he does, he'll hit again. and again. after a moment of this fairly close proximity and he lifts a boot, aiming a harsh kick to the knees to try to knock her down.]

[Vanitas' kick connects and Xion falls, striking out with her Keyblade as she does so to try and stop anyone or anything from getting close enough to grab her, but as she hits the ground she hears a familiar voice.]

Ven, watch out!

[Vanitas barely tips his head in Ventus' direction, even as he approaches-- he holds Void Gear pointed directly at Xion threateningly. it's a thinly veiled message to both his lighter half and the little replica: if either of you move? you taste Keyblade. ... one of them would be tasting Keyblade anyhow.]
