It was a failproof tactic, rile your enemy until boiling point and their moves became sloppy and usually easy to predict. He was positive he wouldn't need that tactic to beat Tifa but, hey, would just make the ass kicking that much easier and sweeter to rub in her face. Even then though, what he'd said? Hadn't been entirely made up. Yes yes, Cloud's fucked up head was Hojo's fault he knew that and wouldn't deny it, but the fact still remained he handed that black orb over and gave the planet a death sentence. So what if Cloud turned out to be some hero, in the end wasn't he just cleaning up a mess he created? And what about Tifa...she knew something was wrong with Cloud when they were traveling, could see it in her eyes when she looked at him. But she wasn't even willing to admit that maybe she'd played a tiny roll in their fates. He wanted someone strong, a challenge, but she was just like everyone else, afraid to face the truths about her. What a shame ( ... )

Surprised more then anything else. Out of what Reno just said to her, Tifa mostly heard "wonk wonk wonk 'What the hell does Rude see in her?' wonk wonk". Or something like that, when she's mad she tends to tune things out. But with wide eyes she blinks and puts a hand on her hip.

"Rude? And me?" I mean, not that Rude turned out to be a horrible guy, or was bad looking (what was it with turks? was there a minimum attractiveness level to get in?) but really, Rude? That's a surprise.

...OK, that was unexpected. He was expecting to rile her up even more by calling her manipulative but instead she took the exact part that really...didn't matter. Girls were all the same weren't they? They make death threats and smash tables and you mention a guy liking them and suddenly everything is peachy keen.

Him and his tongue some days.

"...You gonna kill me or not?" He came here looking for a fight, and quick and easy or not he wants it damnit!

"I was gonna..." Tifa had a plan of her own coming into this, one that had been temporarily derailed by Reno's mention of his larger, almost silent friend. Now that she had a chance to shake it off, it was back to plan A. "...but then I got to think about it and...you know? I feel bad for you."

Turning she walked to the edge of the walkway, facing the ocean and holding one arm with the opposite hand. "I mean, all this time I thought you were just a weaselly little jerk but now...now it all makes sense. I mean..."

She turns on the spot, heels together and arms tucked behind her back, with a sickly-sweet smile on her face. "...you wanted to be the hero right? The one who saved everyone from fiery apocalypse and won all the girls hanging off your arms. That kind of regret must eat at you for a long time before it turns into jealousy...but you shouldn't feel bad Reno. You were too busy being a good little soulless automaton to be a -real- man."

She gives him another wide, fake, dripping with insincerity smile.

"Hnnnh." That was a pain she could have lived without experiencing every again. It was like icey cold wrapped in magma had seeped into her bones and then was forcibly pulled out through her skin. Tifa rocked on her heels at the assault and paled, coughing.

"I thought we were going to fight, but I guess some of us are to precious to throw a punch...let me remind you how it's done." Sand flew up from under her heel as she launched forward, barreling the distance between them to almost nothing in the blink of an eye. Her right fist arced out towards his smug, smiling face...but it was really a feint, to cover up the left-legged kicked that was aiming for his side.

After all, if she hit his face, she might break his glasses. And that's just rude.

He was no stranger to Tifa's speed and strength, though he hadn't quite anticipated this level of dexterity. Alright, he'd admit it, she'd gotten better. He made to block the punch until he noticed something tiny...her eyes flickered to his side for a fraction of a second.

A feint.

There was no time to cast a spell or even get his EMR into his right hand for a better block, simlply a downward block with his right arm would have to do and, he had to admit, even that hurt and caused him to slide a fraction in the sand. But, from where his left hand had tried to block her feint he was able to release his rod and flick the electricity on to make a downward swing as he pushed her leg away. Even if she blocked the hit successfully she'd get shocked.

Tifa couldn't even remember how many shock burns Reno had given her over the course of their battling, but the sound of his EMR humming to life was a sound she knew all too well. Blocking was futile, so it was all about distance.

Rather than resist the push on her leg she let it push her out of position, arcing her back into a hand-stand as the rod narrowly missed the small of her back. A lunge would solve that problem though, so she tucked her legs back down and rolled, coming to one knee a few feet away. "Still fighting with a battery powered sex-toy? Grow up"

"...And people call me immature." he murmured to himself, casting a Haste spell on himself while rolling his eyes.

"Y'know, what you said earlier bout me not throwing a punch...I seem to recall that whenever we fought before the roles were reversed. Pot calling the kettle black, wouldn't you say? Figured I'd actually fight with all my power for once."

He dashed, making another sweeping arc with the EMR towards her. She wouldn't block, just like she'd done before. She'd jump, evade, try and avoid the shock of his rod, but that's exactly what he was expecting, because by avoiding one shock she'd be jumping into one much worse, a Bolt3 spell.
