Elaine had been in the city for...what? A day and a half, tops. She wanted--needed--to get a feel for the place, and what's more, she was trying to avoid any awkward complications between herself and her ex-boyfriend, Harry Dresden, who of course had been the first person she'd met immediately upon her arrival. Not that there was any particular animosity between them--she'd forgiven him for leaving her for dead, and he'd forgiven her for having her mind possessed by their evil step-father--but it was still just...awkward.

So she walked, with no particular destination in mind. Just open eyes, and a clear head. And a pocket full of magic, just in case.

"Miss?" He spotted her from a few paces back and after turning a corner out of the alley way; this was the beginning of Sector Nine territory, his mind supplied, and the girl who was walking- looking thoroughly distracted- didn't exactly look like Sector Nine material.

Now, Neah wasn't one for good deeds, but as fun as it was to simply observe the world, it was getting late and interacting typically promised the same amount (if not more, maybe) of thrill. So, he called.

She paused, and looked in the direction from when she had heard the greeting. It wasn't anyone she recognized, but she didn't think any of the shadow monsters would be out quite this early--nor were they likely to call out to her. So she waited, stepping to one side in case she was in the way.

"Yes? Hello." My. Perhaps she was a bit more distracted than she'd realized, after all.

"Hello." Pleasant girl, then. That was good-- he smiled, just slightly. "You're entering a... worse part of the city. Is your house nearby?"

If she wasn't someone Allen recognized, then Neah felt at full liberty to be a proper gentleman; it would probably end up for an interesting moment down the line.

[Rin is walking briskly from school to the pickup point where she'll board the shuttle to get to Uzushio. She's walking briskly, gaze directed to the ground about five feet in front of her - the air of a woman aiming to blend in, with someplace to go, watching from under her lashes and the corners of her eyes. Her gaze jerks up when she sees Allen though, recognition spreading on her face briefly.

Allen is friendly. She nods to him and the corners of her mouth turn up in a smile. She won't press a conversation with him, but if he stopped to speak to her she would converse.]

[her gaze will be met and held: not with recognition at first, of course, but instead permanent amusement, as though the entire world was a joke that never ended. one second, two seconds -]

[and then he blinked and the look was gone, replaced with a much more 'normal' smile, a hand raised to give a small wave, indeed stopping for that conversation (something he probably wouldn't have done, if he'd been in his 'right mind.')] Miss Asano! You have somewhere to be?

Ah - [That expression at first - how unlike Allen. But it's gone in a moment, and Rin is left wondering if she imagined the whole thing.

The smile that comes reassures her, and makes her own smile sit a little easier, too. Maybe Allen is just not feeling quite himself today, or she could easily have imagined the whole thing. Don't get any more paranoid, Rin.] Hello, Allen. I was just going to work...

Are you late? [probably uncertain, as though the last thing he wanted to do was slow her down; and yet he was moving into close the gap between them, good hand pulling absently at his shirt's hem (all of these little movements, these little requirements to put up an image: they were annoying).]

[ Lately, Yako's been having to drag herself out of bed through sheer will power alone. The endurance training that Sasuke's been putting her through is by no means as brutal as Neuro's more sadistic whims, but getting used to abusing her body again is taking awhile. Today, she smothers a yawn as she jogs briskly along the sidewalk, happy that she's wincing less with every impact of her feet on the concrete. She's running a bit late to work, but not horrendously so; if she hurries, she can still pick up a bite to eat at her favorite cafe (and it really will be a bite, she thinks, a bit mournfully, considering she doesn't have money left).

Almost too late, she notices the figure approaching her from the side of an intersection. Caught mid-yawn, she tries to avoid a collision by side-stepping, nearly falling as her legs get tangled up. ] Sorry--!

[he doesn't notice her until she's almost run into him; he'd been too busy studying the cars that were stopped, the cars that were moving, the turn of a bicyclist's wheels--]

Ah! [as she stumbled, tripped over herself, and he reached out with his right hand to grab her arm, try to help to steady her. (the feel of skin was so strange--) his eyebrows were raised, mouth turned down: his attempt at the expression of earnest concern, all while wracking Allen's memories to see if they were to know this girl.] No, don't apologize. Are you alright?

[ she's an unfamiliar face; at best, he'll recognize her in passing as a fellow Newcomer, and one who posts on the network regularly. a sheepish grin as she's righted, not brushing him off just yet, the expression on her face is genuine-- if apologetic. ]

I'm all right. Thank you-- I should have watched where I was going. [ he's younger than she first thought-- the white hair made her think she had just avoided someone's granny or something. ]

[random faces were too vague of memories for Neah to grab onto without a true fight against his exhausted mind-roommate, and so his look back to her was purely his own: a gentleman's amused smile, the subtle look of someone who was laughing on the inside.]

No harm was done. You must have somewhere important to go to. [he let go of her arm but didn't step back, quirking an eyebrow instead (and as long as that granny comment wasn't voiced, it didn't exist).]

[a full-bodied pause would be the response to that greeting, as grey eyes were currently trained on the display window of the grocery store, with all of its people and carts moving around inside.]

[but then he turns, a smile on his face that only grows when he spots who it is (though whether it's because of the other's attire or the fact that it was Gilbert couldn't be guessed), voice completely cheery if somehow more adult-like than ever before:]

Gilbert! [and an immediate full-body turn, the start of a few steps to close their gap.] It's good to see you out and about. You look... well.

Just watching. Nothing important at all.

[dismissive. this was someone who knew the boy extensively, Neah noted; and so either the other would notice or he wouldn't, and whichever way, the Noah was determined to continue to use his time as he liked.]

[he stopped a step away from Gilbert, smiling upward (the height was one obnoxious quality--) and tilting his head just so.] What about you?

[Maya was heading back to Phoenix's apartment with a bag of baked goodies under her arm. (Appeasement, sort of. ... Although most of it was for her) She was well aware she'd get lectured, yelled at, or fussed at for going around on her own, but. She felt like she had an excess of energy now that she could walk properly again (Not that eating sweets would help with that, but hey]

[In any case, Allen was hard to miss and her face broke out into a grin when she spotted him in the distance]

Hey, Allen!

[his head turned toward her, but his gaze took a moment to follow - this was the beginning of the open air market, and the entire place overwhelmed the senses remarkably, to the point that a human just didn't too important.]

[ah, but this was someone Allen knew. and so Neah spread a smile, raised his voice and waved with his one good arm back.]

Maya! How are you?

[Maya waved right back, although she suddenly got an odd feeling. It was hard to place, though, so she just grinned wider and closed the distance between them]

I'm great! How about you? You're not getting into any trouble, are you?

Of course not. What kind of trouble is there in this city?

[blithe, but relaxed; much, much more relaxed than he's ever seemed before.]

I'm fine. Great, actually. What about you?
