[Romdeau's Proxy had once been the silent guiding hand, crafting and enabling the lives of every individual citizen from a distant seat of unrealized power. It was hard to believe the city had survived so long at all, watching its shadow bumble around, upturning all the couch cushions just to locate his keyring.

Daedalus was known for being a patient man, but his patience for Vincent Law was once again rapidly thinning. It really was that he didn't trust his shopping sensibilities so far as to spend another week staring at the impractical contents of the kitchen cabinets.

He missed Re-l's presence in the apartment. For plenty of reasons beyond the ban on legumes, something which had been lifted most delightedly on Law's part in her absence.
