An Idea Sephira is the very core of a person. When one holds it in their hand, those who are versed in doing so can read the memories of the person inside. Everything that ever was and will be for that individual is within an orb just like this. [He gestures to it with his free hand.]

Probably. The technology here does not seem to be as advanced as what I used to ... there will probably be some growing pains. [Rolling the orb in his hand a few times, he pushes down on the surface that he feels is different from the rest. A screen appears almost immediately projected.] There we are.

[ The possibility of having one's life out on display like that is oddly unsettling, particularly because there's one or two things Yako doesn't think she'd like to have on display. She watches, curiously, as Archangel fiddles with the NV, eyebrows rising when the screen pops up. ]

If this is the kind of thing you're used to, I can see why you'd say the technology here isn't as advanced. [ Remembering her role as a Greeter, belatedly, she clears her throat. ] There should be a map of the city you can access on your NV. You can post messages to the network either using text, audio, video, or hologram functions, though... I'm not exactly sure where the camera is on this.

If you don't have any more questions, we can head to the Tower Apartments to get you settled in!

[Hm. In a way, it was like a miniature Consciousness Orb, but he decides to leave that alone. No reason to bring up something of that nature. So much that he is keeping quiet now because --

He shakes his head lightly before turning off the NV to place it into his pocket once more.]

I would like that very much, Yako.

All right. It's just down this way-- [ And she picks up her cooler, draws her hat down a little more over her head, and trots off. The Tower Apartments are hard to miss, and the distance is short enough; still, she speaks while they walk. ]

Have you been informed about the sirens, and the Darkness?

[Following after, he shook his head at the question.]

I was too busy answering questions, I'm afraid. [Too busy staring at everything around him. It really is like a dream...]

Could you tell me about them?

The Darkness is-- well, it's night, really. But night here at Siren's Port isn't normal. [ She frowns. ]

Once the evening sirens go off, anything that isn't Darkness-proof becomes corrupted, decayed-- even the water in the Tower Apartments won't be safe to drink, once the sun goes down, so I'd recommend investing in some bottled water.

Then, there's the monsters to worry about...

The world distorts, then...

[Archangel lets out a soft sigh. Distortions such as that were not uncommon to his own world. He cannot help but feel a sense of deja vu that is not particularly appreciated.]

That is most unfortunate news to hear.

[ She nods. ] The city doesn't just distort-- monsters come out, as well. Unless you're a really good fighter, I... really wouldn't recommend staying out after the Darkness has fallen.

I'm not that good of a fighter. [A light shake of his head, and laugh.] I fear that I'm far too out of practice to be any good at it.

Neither am I, though a lot of people here seem to be. It's just something to keep in mind.

[ By now, they've arrived at the Towers, and she opens the door for him before stepping in herself. There's an attendant at the front desk, which she makes a beeline for. A short conversation produces a piece of paper and a set of keys, which she offers to Archangel. ]

Here you go. An apartment to yourself, and free rent for a month-- just sign the waiver to get the official part done with.

Do a lot of them fight out in the Darkness, then? And what sort of monsters are they?

[He bows his head politely at her for doing so as he steps in. The paper and key are taken from her with another slight nod.]

Thank you so much, Yako. If there is something that I can do in return...

[Archangel trails off as he writes his name on the waiver. A month. Hm.]

I'm not sure-- there are people you can pay to act as an escort through the Darkness, and I think the police force still patrols during those hours...

[ At the second question, she smiles wryly. ] Like something out of a nightmare.

[ As to the matter of repayment, she shakes her head. ] It's no trouble-- I just want to make sure everyone who comes here gets settled in without any problems. You can always contact my NV if you have any more questions.

Hm.

[He hums softly, that is an unfortunate way to put it.] But the nightmare always ends.

[A polite smile added.] Perhaps, I will. At the very least, I hope you will allow me to consider you a friend.

[ A simple nod. ] Every morning, with the sirens.

[ A friend? ] Of course! [ She's surprised, but pleased, and it shows. ] As long as you'll let me do the same.

So there is always hope.

Of course. I see no reason why I shouldn't since I was the one who offered. [The paperwork, he walks back to hand it to the person who had given it to Yako first. He bows his head slightly as he stares at the key to start walking to end the conversation, but he isn't yet done.] In ten days, I believe that the world may end. So I'm happy to have at least one friend until that end.
