['Modern art' has never really been Mikael's thing; he's all for the endless beauty of nature and classic literature, but when someone names a white circle 'avalanche' and is paid to display it, he begins to see a problem. He has to wrinkle his nose when a bunch of cotton balls and white pills sprinkled on the floor is labelled a key exhibit.

Not that it's anything that has really concerned him in the past, but it seems to be bothering some man intensely.]

Not... necessary.

[Subtle agreement and-- really. The stranger has no one but himself to blame for involving others in his tirade.]

[Although his question had been rhetorical in nature, Orpheus is pleased to hear such ready agreement. He turns to see a young man in the gallery with him.]

It's as if they don't know when to leave well enough alone, wouldn't you agree?

[He glances at the travesty in question. Back to the older man.]

Nothing divine inspired that.

[An odd comment on the surface, but Mikael has to believe it for his own, personal well-being.]

[Orpheus chuckles at that. He's not one to give any weight to the idea of divine inspiration.]

No. It's more along the lines of what some trickster demon might produce, attempting to pull the wool over our eyes with their "art".

[It's the dramatic tone that Sheila recognizes more than anything - and it's much louder in person than it was on the NV. She whips around to face him in surprise.]

..I did not know that 'twasn't how it should look.

[He's almost certain he recognizes the startled young woman in front of him from a conversation on the network. The one who was pulled here from several centuries past.]

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but Sheila, wasn't it? How are you settling in to the city?

And yes, the art - if you can even call it that - you see in front of you is a sad imitation of the original.

[He's observant, of course; it is quite definitely the same girl.]

Aye, I am Sheila. It hath been a rather protracted journey toward comfort, but I am settling within this realm as well as I might, tho 'tis a matter of learning what is right.

[She curtsies, but then says in confusion,]

...What medium is the original in?

[One day, she'll learn how to look it up in the library.]

That is quite good to hear. Have you found employment?

[He smiles at the curtsy. It's just been so long since he's seen someone actually do that.]

The original is an oil painting. Very traditional and a classic piece of art. Nothing like this..."modern" atrocity.
